The staff were all helpful, kind, cheerful. The rooms were clean, comfortable, quiet & well supplied, and the location was perfect. The menu was varied and the food is excellent. Great for families.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Beamish Mary Inn. While visiting the UK, I wanted to stay at a real "free" public house (not part of a chain). This stay did not disappoint! The room, the stay, the friendliness of staff, the food at the pub, the delish English breakfast. Thank you for this amazing experience!

Atmosphere, history, room (Queen Anne Suite)

This is an older building with a lot of character. We have a bicycle and they had safe storage inside. The water was instantly hot and the bed comfortable.

Very very comfortable bed. U get what u pay for in these sort of places, stayed here for 2 nights staff were friendly had everything we needed and had a good couple of night's sleep, what more do u need!!!

All of it, we booked last minute because our hotel we were meant to stay at was atrocious. So we book the Woodman's crossing our fingers not to land another dive, we landed on our feet from the moment we walked through the door we were greeted with a smile, the service was on another level. We were shown to our room, the room was lovely, clean and cozy we stayed in "the hummingbird" had a few drinks in the bar downstairs that night, again brilliant service and a cosy pub. Next day we had breakfast, the breakfast was of a very high quality, everything was clean and again brilliant service from all the staff. This place is genuinely a gem, I'm not sure why we would need a hotel in the northeast area again but, I genuinely think we'll make an excuse to stay here again. To sum up, a brilliant business worth supporting.

Nice facilities - clean and comfortable - close to the beach - a steep walk

Everything about this hotel was fantastic. The staff were beyond amazing exceptionally kind. No nasty odour like other hotels.

Breakfast was lovely , very well presented, very generous portions and lots of choice. The room was spotlessly clean, bed was very comfy had a great nights sleep.

The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was exceptional the rooms were immaculate and absolutely huge.

It was close to Durham and had a restaurant we didn’t try but the food looked good and was busy which is always a good sign , our room was lovely was well stocked with tea coffee milk ect
