It's a lovely village as has numerous nearby villages that are definitely worth visiting. We were looking to have a chat with locals in a pub and weren't disappointed. Everyone we met was friendly to us and we certainly enjoyed the various village pubs we visited. We particularly liked the Blue Boar in Chipping Norton (sitting outside basking in the sun) and Chequers at Churchill - great atmosphere with good food and service. Also close to Diddly Squat and Farmer's Dog which we visited and were lucky enough to meet Gerald at the Farm shop. We didn't go into the shop or the pub but as a visitor we enjoyed the alternate experiences available.Guest review bySandraAustralia - 8.0

I enjoyed the hotel and the grounds were lovely. Stairs were not the best in the hotel leading to all 3 restaurants, this is not ideal for people with aching joints. One lift was not working and I witnessed an older lady struggling with her 50+ daughter attempting to climb the stairs which were not many but too many for her. I think the atmosphere of the hotel suits 60+ guests better. We travelled out each day, however the places were very busy due to the bank holiday and parking is limited. We went to the brewery 39 mins from hotel , they have two beautiful shire horses. Food was fabulous and not badly priced.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Lovely pub with very friendly and helpful staff - wonderful warm welcome. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty. Rooms hot but it was a heat wave. Some slight noise disturbances in one of our rooms - one a house alarm which was outside of the pubs control and the other was due to an early delivery - this was not a big issue and not enough to deter us from staying, but worth considering if you’re a light sleeper staying in one of the annex rooms. Chipping Norton is a lovely place with a number of pubs & takeaways. It’s very close to the Diddly Squat farm shop and also able to drive to other places easily from here. Fabulous location in a tiny village just outside Chipping Norton. Great base to explore the surrounding villages we visited Broughton on the water, beautiful and went to the bird park. Set on the hill overlooking fields down to Chipping Norton it’s such a tranquil location. Everything you could wish for is provided by the host who has took such care and attention to making your stay so comfortable. Subscription TV like Prime and Netflix was available for you to use which I thought was a nice touch. Dog friendly with so many lovely walks to explore on your door step.
