Love it. Full of life and met loads of interesting people. As a Kent native and Frequent Folkestone visitor I've always wanted to stay here to see what it's like. We had a great time. Don't expect the Ritz, go with an open mind and you'll love it.

From arriving at the Westward I was impressed with the service - specifically by Shae, who welcomed us. A wonderful blend of detail and the need to get settled quickly led to us being in the room with dinner planned in less than 10 minutes. Packed breakfasts for early morning departures took addressed yet another challenge having arrived late that evening. People make the difference. Shae is brilliant at his job.

We booked an overnight stay as we have stayed at the hotel before several times and found that it’s a good central location for the harbour etc. the buffet was disappointing. It was much better the previous time we stayed. The food was not enjoyable. We enjoyed the evening entertainment, so we will return and skip the buffet dinner.

Folkestone is just up and coming enough that it is still funky, but also general feels safe. The arts quarter and harbour are particularly worth a visit with excellent art galleries, great bakeries and interesting options for street food or fairly priced restaurant food. Mermaid beach and The Leas are especially beautiful, but there are a lot of steep slopes and steps, so you need to be reasonably fit.

Folkestone was a lovely surprise - so much to see and do - art everywhere, of all kinds (lights , sounds and sights!) museum great, lots of history, very wide range of restaurants and pubs. Great for families with the golden beaches and the harbour area with its surprise squirting fountain area! Cheerful place, quirky too. Easy to get buses for only 3 pounds each to neighbouring Canterbury, Hythe and Dungeness (adventures!) A vinyl record shop, traditional impressive promenade and gardens, free music at the bandstand - loved it!

Gorgeous - beautiful Sunny Sands Beach, Icecream and path...

Gorgeous - beautiful Sunny Sands Beach, Icecream and path way to the coast as you go further along to the Gold area via the stairs - such a peaceful area with the sound of birds. The harbour is beautiful in the sun and so lovely at night time for a walk. The old high street - for shopping lots of trendy things to buy. The best homemade elderflower ice lollies from the artisan shop for a pound only and the best kingsland spring water fruit drinks The Atma lounge on high street - highly recommend for meditation and peace, great food on Sundays and early morning breakfast and check out their secret garden via their shop next door. For vegans and veggies - check out - Cafe Atma - the cheapest cafe on the planet with great food in Hythe/Saltwood area. Open 11-2.30pm (hot food) and then until 4pm with a beautiful brockhill park next to it. Cons - not much choice of pure vegan and veggie restaurants. Taxis to get around are a bit expensive and supermarkets are a bit of a walk from the harbour and sunny sands beach

Love the harbour arm little shops and eateries.

Love the harbour arm little shops and eateries. Very clean and offer a good variety. The old High Street is cute, also known as The Creative Quarter. Quite steep but with lots of quirky shops and cafes. We had a delicious evening meal in Marleys in the Creative Quarter. Great portions, very tasty and reasonably priced.

It served a cheap - somewhere to lay your head for a night as we were in the area- expectation levels are very low bar - stayed once before and awful- since part of the front bit of the hotel fell down - they have at least decorated some of the prison cells (sorry rooms) and whether it was because it was a Sunday stay - seemed cleaner. Overall if you want cheap, basic, no frills- cant be faulted - but you do expect a certain standard even for low end hotel. Which is a shame as back in the day it had a far better reputation.

The manager & staff made us very welcome and we were delighted with our room which was upgraded to a sea view free of charge. The room was clean and well furnished and the beds were very comfortable. We were also given a quiet room as requested. This hotel is in an amazing position up on the Leas in Folkestone and the price per night was exceptionally good value. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we will be returning when we next visit Folkestone. Thank you :)

The room was amazing, the bed very comfortable, amazing view of the sea from the balcony, warm despite the cold, wet and windy weather outside. The hotel was only 10 minutes walk from Folkestone Central Station and yet overlooking the sea and only 5 minutes walk to the pedestrianised city centre . There was a gorgeous park in front. The staff were incredibly lovely and helpful.
