We have stayed here several times on the way down south with our dog. It is a really reliable spot with lake views and service station facilities right next door. A McDonalds and a Costa is all we need. The staff are just lovely and really care that you have a comfortable stay.

Location was ideal- 20 mins from station, 8 mins from the centre of the town. You can hear the river outside with a good view if it! Exceptionally friendly and warm service from the guesthouse owner. The room had everything I needed. Very warm and comfortable.

Kendal is a great base for lake district trip. While ambelside would be more central, Kendal is more affordable. There are also a number of places to view in kendal like castle, abott museum, levens hall etc.

Kendal is a beautiful and historic market town with lots of excellent shops, pubs and restaurants. It's got a great library for rainy days and there's lots of fascinating old alleyways and buildings to enjoy. We loved eating at the Brewery Arts Centre in the evening and also the brilliant Comida Spanish tapas cafe just down from the arts centre. Kendal is a great place to use as a base to explore the Lakes.

The location was quiet as it was hidden behind other buildings. There were two rooms per floor and three floors. The stairs were winding and narrow so not appropriate for seniors unless in good physical condition. I am over 75 and the stairs made me quite nervous. The kitchen was well equipped except I prefer perk or drip coffee. Folks from out of the UK may not understand the term 'cottage' as this is a three story building.

We really enjoyed a visit to Levens Hall nearby, famous for its topiary garden. We would like to have visited Sizergh House as well, but didn’t have time. Kendal’s great owing to its proximity to these historic houses and to Lake Windermere.

Although the leisure facilities were not open(closed until July), we had a lovely short break. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, suggesting places to visit. The hotel is a 20-minute walk into the centre and on a bus route, which goes to Windermere, Ambleside, and Keswick - great for exploring at only £3 per journey. A stand out in Kendal is The Brewary Arts Centre - cinema, theatre & food - brilliant.

The Riverside never lets us down. We've stayed in the hotel so many times we have lost count. This time, we arrived 2 hours prior to book in time due to the snow and having to book at the last minute as we couldn't get home. The staff accommodated us, making sure we were looked after and our room was ready early. The best hotel in Kendal town centre for sure.
