Everything. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful

I stayed in the large room and it was so cosy. Comfortable bed. 7 min walk to the city centre. Fabulous.

~ Great location and free parking facilities ~ Modern and comfortable room

The hotel was in the center if everything we needed ie shops, venues, takeaways and train station and the staff were really lovely people both in the hotel and the pub would definitely stay again

It is exactly what you would expect from a four hundred year old Inn. It was quaint and quirky. It wasn't the steralized and sanitized Inn that modern hotel chains have. It was a wonderful step back in time. I loved every minute and every squeek from the floor. A truly grand experience. I intend to return.

It was my second time staying here. I visit the town because a friend lives there. Before my trip, I kept talking to him to plan ahead and find good places to go out to, like pubs. Since it's England, we thought we should find a place serving shepherd's pie. We both barely found a place in a nearby town, serving vegan shepherd's pie. We even asked them if they can make the original version, which contains mutton. They replied saying the menu will have changed by that time. I told this to the staff at The Rectory via direct messages, they confirmed that they haven't seen shepherd's pie around either, then the manager told me the chef will make the dish just for me and my friend! The same "hunt" happened regarding cottage pie (that one is made with beef) but the one pub we could find, serving vegan cottage pie in a nearby town, simply agreed to make us the non-vegan version. Back to The Rectory: Their chef made us portions that were about twice the size of the aforementioned cottage pie from the neighboring town. And it cost us much less than we expected, about half of what we thought we'd pay. We thought we could at least leave a tip for the favor, but no!

town centre location.parking.great breakfast.Every one was so friendly.

Central for seeing Shrewsbury. Walking distance from train station. Lovely friendly staff, lovely breakfast. Lovely room with view to the bear steps.

500 years old oozing charm and character. Spacious and comfortable room. Very helpful hostess

Every member of staff was very helpful and positive - evidence of good staff training. Staff seemed to work as a team happily, creating a great atmosphere. The downstairs area was interestingly laid out and furnished, giving different areas for more cosy relaxation. Our experience of Dinner, Bed and Breakfast was exceptional, with an excellent chef.

Room was quiet with a view of the river. We only stayed one night but we had a drink in the bar and breakfast the following morning which was tasty and very reasonably priced with a vegetarian option. Staff were attentive and friendly.
