I normally stay at Keswick, but Threlkeld is delightful, and I could still walk into Keswick on the old railway walkway. The views are beautiful. I did a sponsored walk around Ullswater, which is nearby, and it is my new favourite lake. There are two nice pubs, otherwise small and quiet. Place we stayed was absolutely lovely 😍. With amazing views and superb walks. Shops are easy to get to and there's a restaurant if you choose to go there 😉, you will not be disappointed food was great and the staff very helpful. Very clean and dog friendly. I would recommend it but make sure you stipulate that you want to stay in the Horse and Farrier or you end up in the sister hotel ‘The Salutation Inn’ along the road. Threlkeld is a very small village outside Keswick.
Threlkeld is a very small village outside Keswick. It is accessible by bus and the starting point to climb Blencathra. Castle Rigg Stone Circle is nearby and the village has a good pub called the Horse and Farrier (booking recommended) and a nice café for breakfast. Located at the bottom of Blencathra with various walks. We enjoyed our 1 night stay thoroughly, property was clean, warm and with great facilities. Close to Threlkeld village with two pubs for food, but there is a kitchen to make your own if needed. The facilities included a fridge, microwave and toaster, plus all the plates and cutlery. Also the owner didn't skimp with the tea and coffee, there were even sachets of fresh milk in the fridge.
