We truly enjoyed our time in Kyoto. The city is beautiful, full of history, culture, and charm, and it was very easy to visit Osaka from here as well, which made our trip even better. Every day brought something special, from temples and gardens to food and shopping. Kyoto felt welcoming and unforgettable, and we know for sure that we will definitely return. I was told this was the cultural heart of Japan and am so glad we made it a part of our trip. A beautiful city with a casual, artsy vibe. So many shrines and temples - I wish I had made more time to explore. So many great places to eat! Gear Theatre's show was amazing! Also we enjoyed Arashiyama Monkey Park. We took cabs (easy to flag down or schedule with the apps) pretty much everywhere and saw so much of the city this way. I did not expect the crickets to be so loud while walking around in the morning but it was easy to get used to - sort of like the music that malls play in the background while you are shopping. Kyoto was probably our favourite city during our trip to Japan, thanks to its rich history, beautiful temples, and charming districts like Gion. Even with the less-than-ideal weather, the city’s atmosphere was unforgettable. The only disappointment was not being able to fully enjoy Fushimi Inari Taisha or complete the hike due to the weather, which is why we’re already planning to return.
