FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Lovely city with a blend of old and new.

Lovely city with a blend of old and new. Despite the advances in the past 15 years or so, the city remains accessible on foot, allowing us to explore parks that we would have otherwise missed. There have been a lot of changes since my last visit in 2008. However, the city remains as friendly as before . Would love to return for a longer stay. Edinburgh castle now only offers online tickets, withQR codes plastered around the castle exterior. Without a smartphone you would not be able to get tickets. Entry is timed but once inside you can stay as long as you like. Holyrood hous Many shops open till late and are also open on sundays . Eateries are numerous and varied, including cafes .

Lovey city, kind friendly people, great food.

Lovey city, kind friendly people, great food. So easy to get from airport to city centre, staff at the airport so helpful. Plenty of transport options to get round the city, buses, trams, taxis or by foot. Could not fault anywhere we ate or just had a coffee. Our hotel was very central. Plenty to do or if you just want a nice meal & a quite drink Edinburgh has it all.

Loved it!

Loved it! So much to explore in the city but also easy to get to see the highlands, Rosslyn Chapel etc. I love to walk and see where I end up and Edinburgh was perfect for that. Lots of free museums and galleries.

Such an amazing city. So much to do and see!

Such an amazing city. So much to do and see! Swanston farm is definitely worth a visit to meet Highland Cows (Highlight of my trip if I am honest, big fan). So accessible by foot, tram and bus stops are so handy to for going to and from the airport. So many hidden gems, plenty of places to eat and drink and lots of activities too. top food & drink spots: Scran, Panda & Sons, The Last Drop, Black Sheep Coffee, top activities: King Pins, Edinburgh Dungeon, Whiskey Tour, Swanston Farm, Islander bag making workshop

We went on all 3 site seeing busses. Brilliant way to see all the sight and help decide where you might like to visit. Lots of stair for the castle! Loved the museum's. National childhood amd surgeons. Loads of places to eat. 100s of gift shops, best ones near the castle. The cleanest city I've ever been too. Not one bit of litter, very impressed!
