It is a new hotel and a bit quirky in the decor and in an amazing position a short stroll from the castle the royal mile and restaurants… the staff also were amazing so helpful we had a 5.30am leave and they asked the night before if we would like a coffee to take in the taxi … we did and it was waiting for us

Edinburgh FAQ: Tips for every trip

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Edinburgh is a lovely city for a short break, if a little expensive. Most of the famous sites require an uphill walk. We visited Edinburgh castle, which is very impressive. It is a nice uphill walk up the Royal Mile but at least its downhill on the way back. There was a fire on Prince's street the morning we arrived so some of the street was cordoned off during our visit and the tram service was affected. This was done with public safety in mind, so it wasn't a big problem for us. There are a wide variety of nice pubs and restaurants and the park beside the fabulous Scott Monument was nice to ramble through, sit down and relax, with great a view of Edinburgh castle high above.

Easy short walk to bus stop, but treat yourself and get the city cabs app. door-to-door service with friendly drivers, and easy pick-up wherever you find yourself in town. Leith is brilliant and a welcome haven after the bustle of Edinburgh. Though some great restaurants and bars on Leith Walk on the way into town. Check out La Casa for tapas. Friendly, professional and great for meat eaters AND vegetarians

Art museums and historical sites first-rate.

Art museums and historical sites first-rate. The three National Galleries that I went to (National, Portrait, and Modern One) were all superb. The people everywhere were friendly and helpful. The restaurants were good; I walked most places or took taxis because I did not want to navigate the bus system.

If you like historical buildings and semi friendly people.

If you like historical buildings and semi friendly people. if you like (probably) rain. If you like grey and sand colored buildings. If you like pubs. Id say nice town and good experience. Not that much these must see and experience things, Its not New york or London. Every 200m hobo or drug user come along, this is always minus sign. Also accessible town, if you have some physical disability.

Such a charming city, where you can enjoy the historic city as well as the nature. Be sure to bring a light jacket. Even in early July it was a bit chilly in the morning and evening. The weather was as unpredictable as I had read, and it was surprisingly windy. The hike up to Arthur's Seat was a bit scary, but the breathtaking view was absolutely worth it. I really appreciated how friendly people were everywhere. I hope to visit Edinburgh again. :)

It is an absolute and unforgettable trip I have accomplished within a very short stay, however, every glance of the sighting was a rewarding and joyful. In the Edinburgh City itself alone, has many features and many historical sites as well as beautiful high hills views which are unforgettable and unavailable too. Beyond the city, there are much more sites that are more wonderful for those who enjoyes the nature.

Great location near to Edinburgh airport, and easy connection to the city centre via bus or taxi. Great room price compared to more central Edinburgh hotels. Staff were very friendly. Rooms were comfortable and in good condition - I expected worse considering they were just rooms above a Toby Carvery, the powerful shower especially was a nice touch, as was the clothes hanging space. Breakfast also was adequate enough, so we were happy all around.

I like this place - the staff are really helpful and it is a comfortable, clean and affordable place to stay near to the city centre where hotel prices soar and you don't get any more for your money. Recommend the hotel for a great stay in Edinburgh, and the parking is handy even if they have put on a price on it more recently, but still affordable.
