The location was absolutely perfect — right in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town. Almost everything I wanted to explore was within a 15–20 minute walk, which made my stay super convenient. The surrounding vibe was lively yet charming, with historic streets and attractions all around. I really appreciated how easy it was to get around without needing transport.

It is a new hotel and a bit quirky in the decor and in an amazing position a short stroll from the castle the royal mile and restaurants… the staff also were amazing so helpful we had a 5.30am leave and they asked the night before if we would like a coffee to take in the taxi … we did and it was waiting for us

FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

The old town was very busy, due to the brilliant weather, however if you want to park your car in this area make sure you check the LEZ on the Edinburgh web site. Also try not to use the caste terrace NCP Carpark as it is £7 per hour.

First visit with my wife and we both had a great time.

First visit with my wife and we both had a great time. All the key things to do are quite central and we able to walk everywhere even though the city is quite hilly! Trams from the airport are easy and efficient straight into the old town city centre. Ghost tour was good fun and the Castle is a must visit otherwise just walking about and exploring is the best way to see it all. Lots of places to eat and good shopping options all around.

It is a fantastic city with great pubs, tons of history, world-renowned universities and a beautiful old town. I strongly recommend doing one of the walking tours which all set out on the Royal Mile and last about two hours, perhaps a little less, to get a great first impression of Edinburgh.

Fantastic architecture and culture.

Fantastic architecture and culture. So many hills and steps but can always find a way around them! Steer clear of the Royal Mile if you don't like crowds! Make sure to visit both the Old and New towns - as they are entirely different and each has a definite personality of its own. Loved the National and also Modern 1 and 2 galleries - worth a visit.

Hotel is very close to the Gyle Centre tram stop from where it’s easy to get to the city centre or the airport. Ticket machine at the stop. Budget friendly (£5 per 24 hours) car park option if you don’t want to pay more in the city centre or you just can’t be bothered to find a place to park in Edinburgh. 24/7 reception makes checking in and out very convenient. Room is compact and has everything you need from the budget stay: hot shower and comfortable bed. I would say it’s very comfortable for 1 adult and ok for 2 adults.

Cosy room in a modern hotel on a campus of the University of Edinburgh. The location is great, just off a main road and close to Holyrood Park, with plenty of restaurants, bakeries and amenities within 5 to 10 minutes' walk. It is also well-connected to the city centre and train station by bus. The breakfast was excellent, with hot food cooked to order, and the staff were welcoming and accommodating.
