Thurso is a town that has seen better days, but most people are going to Thurso to visit John O Groats or to catch a ferry, rather than for the town itself. We stayed out of season so did not visit the beach. We enjoyed our walk to Dunnet Head, and spent our 2nd day visiting John O Groats and Wick. We recommend the Thurso Visitor centre / Museum (free entry, but donatiion requested)

The house is rather dark and drab. The pictures make it look much lighter. It was good for one night. It can be difficult to find somewhere which allows just one night. There was food in the freezer, and sheets in the dryer when we arrived. That was a bit odd. Otherwise, a good location, easy to find. Fine for one night.AAnonymousUnited States of America

Antoinette, our hostess, was friendly and very helpful with suggestions on where to eat dinner. Views from here were beautiful and the added bonus is that they have a half dozen highland cows.
