I asked for a room with a window which could open when I booked because I am claustrophobic, they promptly responded that was not available. I still kept my booking and when I checked in the lady at reception was so caring and assured me that she would be downstairs all night if I needed anything, she even went as far to call a taxi for me to get to my destination the morning afterwards. Im sorry I didn't get her name. The breakfast was great, bed was comfortable, check in and out was a breeze.
Perfectly located at the gates to The Cathedral Close and ten minutes to Stonehenge. The Chapter House is steeped in history and culture.

Our room was very spacious, confortable, and cozy. The hotel itself is a piece of history for the touristic community of Salisbury. It's restaurant offered delicious dishes of great value and flavor.

The location was just perfect!! Such a privilege to be staying at The Close - the oldest and most exclusive place of Salisbury. Just lovely to be in such a privilege location. The College itself is OK - room are super clean and excellent breakfast. Brings back memories of being at College! Parking was easy as well.

Everthing is within walking distance shops, cathedral etc and there are plenty of places to eat. Furthermore, as this is an old medieval town there are lots of pubs ! so plenty of choice of breweries and food ! Its also based on a grid system so very easy to navigate your way around.
We did find that the independant shops, market etc are NOT open on Sundays so if you are coming for shopping make sure you come Monday to Saturday or you will be disappointed !
Our host said when the sun shines Salisbury is the best place to be and with a choice of over 5 rivers you could walk along bathed in sunshine I would agree !

Beautiful city. Amazing old streets and buildings. Small enough to explore on foot. Plenty of places to enjoy food and drink. The Cathedral is stunning. Plenty of independent shops. Nice green open spaces. Lovely for a couple of days.

Go to city visitor center, very helpful.
Go to city visitor center, very helpful. Pretty town, every place walkable. Visit Stonehenge in afternoon, lot less people. Old Sarum was hard to get to and not marked well from bus stop. Magna Carta might not be worth the fee to many.

A small town with lots of pretty old buildings, beside the river. There are some famous sites including the cathedral which I enjoyed visiting. Unfortunately a few things are closed Tuesday and/or Wednesday, so check webistes when planning your trip. It's also 20 minutes from Stonehenge.

Parts of the city are rather grim, other parts are wonderfully historic and worth seeing; the Saturday market is excellent. We didnt go into the Cathedral as we considered the ticket price excessive but we ate very good food in Baroushka in Fisherton Road and the daytime cafe opposite. There is an amazing fishmonger in Fish Row and a good baker adjacent. Walking through the city was difficult as there seem to be endless road/pavement works and hordes of tourists heading for their lessons in history. We came by train as parking would appear to be scarce but there is a good Park and Ride. We were blessed with the cottage, it made up for our disappointment with Salisbury itself.

Love this area, brings memories of childhood as I was born in an area called Salisbury. It has a lovely market to buy goods from, stores, and lots of food options where a Mediterranean breakfast can be experienced. Not to mention Stonehenge... info attainable for Magna Carta resides in this area.
Rooms experienced at places stayed great for short term but I like big open spaces with rooms, nothing against the hosts! Many options offer included breakfasts elsewhere.
Staff were fabulous, right from pre-booking. Larry the head chef emailed me how he would accommodate my dietary requirements. The lady on reception was also great as were the servers in the restaurant. All were helpful, polite and unobtrusive.
The hotel is perfectly located alongside the river and convenient for the Cathedral and the city centre restaurants, bars and shopping.
The room was comfortable, clean and well equipped.
Complimentary parking and WiFi are welcome additions too.
The room was booked under a stressful situation - broken-down on A303 and a 9hr wait for recovery! The owner, Ray, was very understanding as we kept moving our expected arrival time. He greeted us at 10pm with a warm welcome. I was expecting more of a hotel than a room (but probably my fault for not looking at all the info). That said the room was spotless, comfortable and well equipped, including fresh milk for coffee and a pub right opposite!
The hotel was perfectly situated within walking distance of the centre but in a quiet setting next to a river. Breakfast on the terrace was a bonus in the lovely weather. The staff were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The shuttle bus to and from town each evening was really good as there are so many different restaurants to try. As an electric car owner the chargers in the car park was an additional bonus.
I've stayed at Caboose before and will return again. For anyone traveling to Salisbury by rail, the location can't be beat. It's a one minute walk from the station, and then just a few minutes walk to the cathedral and all the shops and restaurants. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Rooms are very clean and lovely. Excellent value for money.
The room was spacious and comfortable with all expected facilities. The additional mini-kitchen was a nice extra bonus.
We were also very grateful that our hosts accommodated our request for an early breakfast too.
The hotel is in a beautiful location within close proximity to the city centre, with a beautiful walk to get you there.
No matter how comfortable a hotel may or may not be, the staff ALWAYS make the ultimate difference. Friendliness and customer service at The Riverside was exceptional!
Massive thank you to Kevin, who shuttled us into Salisbury and back. He is a stand out, funny man who helped make our stay memorable.
We stayed here on the way back from Stonehenge.
It was a wonderful hotel in a very spacious and beautifully maintained area. There were ponies and cows on the grounds, which the small children loved. For dinner, we went to a pub recommended by the owner. I would definitely stay here again.
This place was more than expected. Hosts were more than ready to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. The location was perfect for a short walk to town center, Cathedral, and wonderful walks along the River Avon. Salisbury is central to many historic places in southwestern U.K.
The hotel is in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the city centre. There is a good sized car park too. It was clean and comfortable and all the staff we dealt with were excellent. Dinner and breakfast were very nice too. I also think the value for money was good.
A charming old hotel with traditional tastefully decorated rooms. We got upgraded to a spacious king room, with Nespresso machine, decent Wi-Fi and a bathroom with walk in shower. Restaurant was first rate, with exceptional steaks and good freshly cooked breakfast.
The property was very spacious, and the host was very gracious. Welcome basket full of goodies, including breakfast items was appreciated. Having a pub across the street was very convenient. An ideal setting if you want to visit Stonehenge or Salisbury.
Good location close to train station. Small hotel, only 8 rooms. Easy walk into Salisbury city centre. Breakfast excellent.
Staff helpful, looked after our baggage as we arrived early and transferred our cases to the room when it was ready.
The apartment was in excellent condition and perfect area for visit to Salisbury. Owner was very helpful and friendly. Kitchen was lovely. Whole apartment was very well laid out.
Excellent location to explore the city centre. Loved the fact that a Great Western Hotel is located in a historic building which made it so much more interesting to stay in!
Room attractive and all amenities provided. Good breakfast. Free parking at hotel. Large and beautiful garden area. About 25 mins walk to city centre so a good location
