Cairns is lively and very touristy its ok Be prepared to be disappointed Mossman Gorge dont bother very controlled and you are not allowed to really walk they are not happy as it is through an indigenous community You are strongly encouraged to pay $15 to take a bus to the gorge In addition most of the areas visited are conveniently closed to the public for supposed your safety and repairs taking many months Examples Lake Placid Barron Gorge I grew up here came back to visit it is no longer free to walk around your own country The islands such as fitzroy not bad but again very crowded Its worth a look but be prepared to find it too crowded and commercialGuest review byAlfred - 10.0

Palm Cove had a laid back vibe, great beaches and views and lots of places to eat. The restaurants were good quality with plenty of seating. There are numerous spas for massages and treatments and some beachy clothes shops. A shopping centre with a Coles supermarket was only a few minutes drive away.Guest review byMelindaAustralia - 4.0
Mission Beach is having a huge upgrade in the CBD.
Mission Beach is having a huge upgrade in the CBD. Avoid here until it is completed if you want to avoid pedestrian access issues to shops, beach, etc. Underground drainage works throughout town are behind schedule, the shop owners are so patient.Guest review byBelinda - 10.0
6 days of perfection.
6 days of perfection. Beautiful beach, enough establishments to eat somewhere different every night. We had a hire car but if you want beach resort and a day trip on a bus this is the location for you.Guest review byMichelleAustralia - 10.0
Cape Tribulation is an amazing, beautiful place.
Cape Tribulation is an amazing, beautiful place. You can walk along the long, beautiful beach with the ocean on one side and tropical rainforest on the other. When you walk back into the rainforest you are on a boardwalk which takes you through huge mangroves then through the tropical rainforest with a stunning variety of rainforest trees and other plants. You see lots of butterflies as well as birds, goannas and fruit bats. It is a place that fills you with awe.Guest review bySylviaAustralia - 10.0

There’s so much to see and do in and around Atherton, from nature walks and water falls to cafes and strawberry picking to gemstones and geocaching and everything in between. The cooler weather is a welcome escape from the humidity of the coastal areas. Accommodation types are many and varied so there is something to suit every budget. The Tablelands are a food lovers paradise with a relaxed country vibe.Guest review byNiss1234Australia - 8.0
The botanic gardens are a must.
The botanic gardens are a must. The separately themed gardens are well chosen. The James Cook museum is very interesting. If you don't want to go on a cruise or go fishing there's not much to do.Guest review byMarionAustralia - 4.0
To add to flying fish review -we found it unpalatable.
To add to flying fish review -we found it unpalatable. We booked for 5 nights but only stayed 2 due the fact there was no cafe at flying fish point although advertised. Also the staff were unavailable. Key was left with yard man as no one in office. Husband is disabled and it rained entire 2 days and when returning to cabin from car there was no mat inside to wipe feet on therefore floor was wet and hubby slipped over and injured himself so we returned home early. We are on age pensions and was trying to get hubby out of the house and it turned out to be hell.Guest review byLorisAustralia - 10.0

Yungaburra is a very quaint "old-world" town, great history, centrally located for day-trips to the crater lakes and waterfalls. If you are into platypus spotting, this is the place to be, with well sign-posted walking trails and information along the local river. The town itself had several cafes, a pub and a couple of restaurants. There was a small shopping centre, butcher, etc to cater for food supplies.Guest review byDazzaAustralia
