Central convenient location, very close to public transport. Bed was really comfortable, the room had all necessary facilities. They even had real milk in tiny glass bottles for the tea/coffee! We were on our honeymoon and staff had left us a nice little gesture and a card upon checking in, we were really touched. Thank you!

Very accessible to many areas of interest.

Very accessible to many areas of interest. The Botanical gardens were glorious with a great glass house. Kelham Island Museum is well worth a visit. The city centre shopping is pedestrianised and a visit to Moor Market is a must. Lots of places to eat and everyone is so friendly if you get lost and need directions

Pretty town with quite a bit to see.

Pretty town with quite a bit to see. Large park with fair ground rides for the young and shops for browsing. Plenty of cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops. A very good base to tour the Peak District and other towns. Compared to London it is a cheap place indeed. The scenery around is very pretty. Clean and well maintained town, no graffiti seen. The odd bit of litter but was cleaned away asap. Surprised that the free water from the spring wells was actually warm to taste. A lovely place to stay and visit.

Chesterfield is nice, It's a good location for visiting the area. Traffis can get pretty busy during rush hour but otherwise it's easy to get around by car. There is a large car park a short walk from the centre so easy to get to the shops or wander around the centre.

The only thing wrong with Matlock Bath is NO Newsagents shops. I had to get a bus into Matlock, to get my Saturday Newspaper & magazine. There are loads of Fish & Chip shops, Ice Cream shops & Pubs. In August there are always hundreds of Motor Bikes from all over the U.K. (I've never found out why they all meet here in August ?) I try various cafes, pubs & restaurants while I'm here, & I'm also a regular visitor to The Boat, a pub in Cromford, with live music at Weekends, & a great bookshop just a few yards away up the lane. It's hidden away behind The Greyhound Hotel. (which apparently closed in December 2025) making it even harder to get somewhere to stay in the Cromford / Matlock area. I travelled over to Chesterfield for the first time ever, to see my friend playing guitar & singing, so I really enjoyed that. All in all, it was a pleasant stay, except for the cold water & the 'hill walk' ! (p.s. I didn't take a camera with me. Too many other things to carry).

Bakewell is an attractive market town with the River Wye flowing through it and nice riverside walks alongside it with a large Park. Shops are a mixture of practical and touristy ones with a number selling Bakewell Pudding. There is a busy market on Monday with loads of stalls. Pubs are a bit limited in terms of choice of vegetarian food. Nearby attractions include Chatsworth House, Buxton and Matlock Bath(Heights of Abraham).

An old market town.

An old market town. It has quaint streets, and a great range of independent shops as well as a few high street brands. You will not be disappointed with the many places to go for food and drink. We had Sunday breakfast at a place called Bear I can recommend their eggs benedict. Ideally situated if you are staying for a few days and wish to visit other places in Derbyshire
