This poussada has old world charm, with a magnificent view of Guimarães. The town centre, only 2km walk away, is listed as a World UNESCO Heritage Site. Restaurant is very good for dinner, ensure you have a table by booking ahead, even if staying there. Excellent restaurants in Guimares as well. The staff were all friendly, kind and attentive. Our 3 nights here with friends were a highlight of our 26 days in Portugal.

Very clean, within downtown Braga, the room design is well thought out with quality amenities (the towels were luxurious) Breakfast is one of the best we have had, thoughtfully featuring some of what not to miss when visiting Portugal.     The location is excellent for access to Caminha central area. Being slightly south of the center area provides a quiet, comfortable base for visiting Caminha. The hotel has a small fitness room with great cardio machines, great dumbbells, adjustable bench and a multi-station machine. I found the fitness adequate for a basic workout. The room was without question very nice with a view of the pool area and the hills behind. The breakfast met my needs with multiple coffee/espresso options, assorted pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt and other traditional breakfast items. Again, the views of the waterfront were quite nice.

    Superb location, newly renovated, all mod-cons plus spa access, a good restaurant and an excellent breakfast! JUST GREAT! We came here after trying to access the nearby chalet, Teixeira Home, where the cobble-stone access was so slippery and steep that our car didn't make it there. Despite the fact, that booking and the owner did not wave the cancellation fee (!), we are feeling blessed that we found Aguas do Geres. Located right in the middle of a charming resort town, with other good restaurants around, and amazing nature at our doorstep. A pleasure even in the continuous rain we experienced. We will be back, I hope.

    Pet friendly accomodation was our key factor, also this feel of entire and fully equipped rural house gave a sense of how people live in this area. We got really hooked up by the chimney and setting up the fireplace. It's very remote from everything surrounded by the mountains. There is a bakery in the nearby Rouças village which is the only place where it's possible to buy bread. Everything else needs to purchased before coming here.

    A lovely town.

    A lovely town. Not huge but really with lots of old streets and a great fernicular up to the view point. Be aware that the underground car park runs the complete length of the main shopping street, from down by the waterfront all the way up to the train station. There are access points all along the Main Street.

    Beach at Esposende too difficult to swim in due to pepples. Other beaches at Ofir and Apulia excellent. Limited supply of restaurants and limitless supply of banks!!! Surprised by the obvious wealth amongst the Portuguese people with holiday homes here. Very few estrangers. Not for sailors. Good for families. Some surprising sculptures dotted around the esplanade from 1997 one in particular near the San Lorenca fort at Esponsende.

    Caminha is a quaint little town on the Spanish border.

    Caminha is a quaint little town on the Spanish border. It has the local charm of a Portuguese town. We stayed in an apartment, dined out, and cooked at home. The local farmers market is on Wednesday and Saturday, ideal for buying fresh vegetables, fruit, charcuterie, and bread. The local fish market has bacalhau and fresh vegetables from Tuesday to Saturday. Our favourite lunch place was Trincaria Happy Food Bakery. Their daily lunch menu was great and good value. At the square, we enjoyed Cafe Central for a drink in the afternoon, an the pasteleria on the other side, for morning coffee. Canto do Lobo, with its slow food concept, is recommended for dinner at least once during your stay. It offers great food, great service, really good conversation, and value for money. They also have a huge beer collection, both bottles and draft beer. Easy to move around the town on foot, and several small supermarkets are open until 21.00 during the week. Walking distance to the beach (15-20min). Easy to bike to nearby communities like Moledo or Praia de Ancora. From the waterfront, there are taxi boats to Spain, La Guardia. If you are in a car, it's a 15-minute drive over the bridge, and you are in Spain. We enjoyed walks in the area and around the town and some drives to nearby towns for meals and exploration. If you are without a car, the train goes to every city nearby in the morning and afternoon, and it is only 1.5 hours by train to Porto.

    On a beautiful river with the medieval bridge and the pretty church on the other side being the distinctive features as we approached along an esplanade of trees. Lots of cafes and restaurants from which to choose. Would recommend finding those in the narrow streets located off the front.

    Very pleasant and calm. Hope to move my business here . Will move my Canadian canoe, the inflatable motor boat, diving equipment and get a sailing day boat . Then, it’s all enjoying Vila Praia De Âncora ( tried a restaurant Fortaleza, they were great, service, food and honest in their offerings) Will be back soon !

    Barcelos is a great city to spend a day or 2 while doing the Camino or traveling in Portugal. The architecture and ruins are not to be missed. The variety of restaurants and shops were fun to explore.
