We loved the grounds and surrounding walks.. Mature trees. The lady at reception that greeted us was absolutely lovely, warm and helpful. The dining room with the fireplace was very nice room.

The food I had was dreadful. First nights dinner (Mushroom Stroganoff) tasted awful, possibly the worst food course I have ever ordered. The young lady who was in charge of the dining room was very sullen and dour, the complete opposite to our welcome at reception. Surely breakfast on the first morning would charge me up…No the porridge was like wallpaper paste, tasteless and obviously made with water not milk! Once again uneatable! Next came my order of the cooked veggie sausage, beans, tomato and scrambled eggs. No tomato 🙈 sausage cold 🙈 scrambled eggs a tan colour and tasted terrible…..thank god for the baked beans. Toast floppy, must have been warmed with a hairdryer, limp not crisp! Needless to say we never had dinner in hotel on our second night, we eat elsewhere. Second days breakfast was better as we stuck to pre packaged Weetabix and boiled eggs… a success!

Personally, I felt a bit let down as I chose this place over premier inn. And it was pretty much the same experience but for more money. The TV didn't connect to my phone despite following the instructions. The flush on the loo was broken and needed to be repaired. I arrived a little earlier than the 3pm check in time so my room felt as though it had been cleaned in a rush and given to me quickly. Personally, I would have preferred them to make me wait a bit longer but have the room in a better state. I felt like there was a lot of grime on the shower tray from the previous person. The sink was not cleaned thoroughly either because the water was rising rather than going down the drain which shows that they don't deep clean the sinks often enough. I really don't want to sound negative or like a karen but this was my honest experience. Everything else was clean, the bed was okay, a bit creaky though so if you're a light sleeper it might bother you. Also, the lighting wasn't very good in the room so it wasn't great for when I wanted to do my hair in the mirror and also do my makeup in the same spot. If none of these things bother you then absolutely go for it. But honestly, premier inn is the same... if not better.

The breakfast was cold and would be much nicer if served fresh. I asked for 1 hour late checkout and was asked for 50 pound . Small gestures can be very good for business especially if no impact on business . Bar closed too early with no option of room service. Area around hotel being renovated so very unsightly .

The curtains were falling off the rail, stains on the lining. The bathroom door kept sticking when closing the door and became very difficult to open. No welcome pack in the room and no details for wifi

The bed was worse than one of those fold out beds! The 'scrambled eggs' had the texture of a warmed over chocolate mousse. Inedible. The entire breakfast is pre-cooked and dry... which I could understand if the hotel was full... but if you only have a few in, the eggs, bacon, fried bread and toast can be cooked to order. It certainly sounded like there was enough staff in the kitchen. This is just lazy. The hotel was almost empty... It would have cost them nothing to give me a decent room.

I requested a twin bedroom as I was travelling with my daughter. We arrived to a double bed not the requested twin bed set up.i didn’t mention it as we were late arriving and wanted to get settled. The dog was made most welcome, thank you. Staff were nice. No en-suite facilities, perhaps I didn’t read the hotel info properly. Very basic but very clean. The bathrooms were very clean and newly painted but the shower on its own went freezing to scalding with a few seconds to wash inbetween. The shower room with bath and loo in it was fine for my daughter. The workmen on the roof at max volume, starting at 7:30am was an unexpected surprise.
