Hosts very responsive to replying to texts with queries I had. Great location BUT see below. Near to bus and train station as we were on public transport. Well equipped kitchen - but we didn't use it as ate out both nights. Owner let us check out later at 11am which was appreciated. There were 5 TV's in the property which wasn't a plus for us as we didn't use them but may be considered luxury?

House described as luxury, which is what we were after. After we booked the description was changed to spacious. Why? Front bedrooms very noisy with road traffic late into he night and early morning. Stairs to the upstairs were very steep, not suitable for those with reduced mobility. The basement was very spacious but it was unfurnished and only housed the washing machine and tumble drier and a corner shower so lots of unused and unfurnished space in the basement. So lots of space but not useable. So not 'spacious' in my mind. None of the 3 bedrooms had wardrobes or drawers for clothes. The beds were much too soft with lots of massive pillows so generally very poor nights sleep. One of the double beds was in a room where both side edges of the bed touched the side of the walls so to get in or out you had to climb out of the foot end of the bed. Not suitable for adults, reduced mobility and certainly not luxury. The other bedroom had the double bed up against one wall so this time only one person had to crawl in and out of the bed using the foot end of the bed. The other bedroom was Ok for space but again no wardrobe or chest of drawers. This all felt a bit 'cheap' as there was room to put this extra furniture with a bit of planning. Unable to open the windows as there were wooden horizontal blinds that prevented you being able to get to the window catches without pulling the blinds up. I tried to shut the kitchen window, as it had been left open before we arrived, and when pulling up the flimsy blind it fell off onto my arm. This made me too reluctant to try opening any of the other blinds to get to the window catches so I could open the windows. The owner did respond very quickly to my text and offered to send in the maintenance person to fix it but it was the evening and we had a table booked for supper. The dining room had a lovely big table and a very large TV facing the table.

Lovely room in a lovely location. Nick is a fabulous host, very hospitable, and made us very welcome when we arrived. We had everything we needed for our stay, and the room was spotlessly clean. When we walked in, we could instantly smell freshly washed bedding and towels. Would definitely recommend Allen Ridge!

Car park was full despite reserving space several weeks prior to arrival. The room air conditioning did not work.

The road was a bit noisy with the window open but the noise reduced to almost nothing with the window closed.

It has a slightly dated feel in the bedroom

Very helpful reception staff, clean bedroom, comfortable bed, quiet despite being on the edge of a retail park.

Historic city-centre hotel with its own quirks, some easier to live with than others!

Room generally OK but magnetic catch was broken which allowed cupboard light to stay on when it shouldn't. Simple cheap repair needed. Would have preferred/expected thermostatic shower controls.

One of the worst apartments I have ever rented through booking. No common space, not even in the kitchen there is nowhere to sit and eat or talk. Kitchen equipment very limited. Knives that are so blunt that they do not cut anything. Extremely uncomfortable mattresses. But the worst is the bathroom. It is a cabin like in a caravan, not in an apartment. A very bad smell immediately stings the nose. It turns out that every time you flush the toilet, there is a leak from the toilet bowl. And this water with excrements goes straight under your feet, straight into the shower. The owner does not see a problem with this and claims that it has been like this from the very beginning, so nothing can be done about it. For me, this is unacceptable. A very unhealthy hygienic situation. I do not recommend and I will never come back.
