The room was exactly as described, spacious and very comfortable. The staff were incredibly helpful and polite and the food was amazing. The grounds looked fantastic, sadly my stay wasn't long enough to make the most of them.

A few minor cleanliness issues with the room, such as cobwebs, but minor things really. The bar was busy and understaffed so the one barman was running around juggling multiple requests. Service was therefore slow, but polite when it did come.

The hotel is very nice, front of house staff were lovely, as was the restaurant where he had a great meal. Very good location for the party I was attending.

Booked a room here for my adult son who was attending a fancy dress birthday party nearby. I mentioned that he was neurodiverse when I called to confirm. When he got to the hotel, they had put him in a room which had three steps down as you walked in, then you had two steps up to get to the bath and another three steps down to get to the sink. People who are neurodivergent sometimes (not always) have difficulties with spatial awareness and balance. This room was a death trap for someone like him and he would undoubtedly have fallen. He is a gentle soul and would probably not have complained, but I told him to go down immediately and change his room. Then he was put into an accessible room which was the only thing that they had available, but at least it was all on the flat with no trip hazards. The shower had a slippery metal floor and there were no grab rails. Luckily there was a non slip mat. He noticed that the alarm cord by shower and the loo were each tied up in little black bags high up. Unreachable if you were in a wheelchair😂😂 you do wonder! He commented that it was also quite noisy on the road outside. His train back to London on Sunday left at 14:32 so he requested a late checkout. He was charged £20 for this. In most of the Newcastle hotels we’ve stayed in this is something that was offered on a complimentary basis. We were already paying £200 for the ‘deluxe’ room per night. So penny pinching!

The overall style. The bed was confortabile. The possibility to connect the phone to the TV in the room for watching my own streaming contents
Negative section of review
The bad smell of smoke and the lack of a proper ventilation in the room. The bathroom cleaning to be improved.

We did not sleep well, the bed was super uncomfortable and sunk in the middle, upon leaving we checked under the bed to see the middle supporting leg was actually loose and lying on the floor. The curtains were so thin and light in colour that they did not block out any light. The room was very small and with the additional bunk above the double it felt even more claustrophobic. There was a rail with some hangers but besides that there wasnt anywhere else to put anything. No shelves or cupboards in the room or bathroom just a tiny wooden table which had tea & coffee facilities. There was a broken light fitting inside the shower, which I can see someone complained about in another review 10 months ago. The whole room needs a lick of paint and renovation. There were information sheets cello taped to the walls, the wifi password had one incorrect letter, and it said there was complimentary toast on Sundays - I checked every half an hour from 7:00-9:30am and there was no bread. Just a fridge with some jam & butter and an empty toaster.

response to checking in was good but could be better if information to get into building and room is passed to guest 1 hour before arrival time and bedroom should be ready few hours before incase guest agrees with host to come early of course which happens in some cases. I didnt know the code to the building and had constantly knocked on the door and rang the bell to go to my room waiting in the rain and was only let in because cleaning lady who was fantastic was coming out with things to throw in the garbage etc. But she and the host cooperated well to lower my stress at checking in. they allowed for a good experience. The Shower was not pristine but most people would expect it to be cleaner as were some stains on bottom of shower basin and glass, but there were other rooms on the floor sharing the bathroom so maybe it was someone staying there who left a mess.
