      Restaurant - The Black Horse Inn is in a glorious position on the Pilgrim's Way. There are several well laid out areas outside at the back of the Pub Restaurant to accommodate eating and drinking for quite a large number of people. Accommodation - The bedrooms with ensuites are contemporary and clean so you can get in and relax immediately. Parking for the staying visitors is separate and close to the accommodation. Atmosphere is friendly (to people and dogs!) and relaxed.

      Restaurant - We pre-booked an early evening meal (18:45) as the menu looked good, and food had good ratings. Unfortunately the starter ordered from the daily specials board had already run out. The chicken with mushroom sauce had garlic in both the sauce and the accompanying potatoes which meant that with my partner's garlic intolerance he could not have it, and apparently the dish could not be prepared without garlic. The chef suggested fish and chips which although were only on the lunch time menu they still had a supply. Having sorted out an alternative we waited over an hour for the meal. The ordered desserts - ice cream and pear tartin also took ages to arrive. There did not appear to be many people dining, and when we complained we did not get any explanation as to why the service was so slow. Accommodation - worth mentioning that the lodges are sub divided, so every two individual rooms share a common entrance. The dividing wall between the two accommodations was apparently quite thin as you could hear guests in the other room if they were speaking loudly (though thankfully you couldn't hear the actual content of the conversation!).

      The staff were excellent in being professional, friendly and helpful. We had one outstanding problem which the manager, Pedro, sorted out himself. The staff went out of their way to accommodate my wife, who had been injured. Emily was especially helpful. The food was very good.

      Our toilet cistern broke down twice. The basin was blocked and cleared very slowly. The manager thought it had been cleared (presumably let down by his maintenance man) and when I reported it again he dealt with it himself.

      From start to finish The Greyhound delivers excellence. Caroline and Stephen are the perfect hosts and couldn't be more friendly. The rooms are beautiful and the food is fabulous. We look forward to staying again later in the year.

      The breakfast choices were limited and quality was poor. Left a lot to be desired. The room walls and floors appeared thin - you could hear easily guests walking above you and talking to the side of you.
