The property was well presented and as soon as you walk in, the fresh fragrance is very pleasant, the property inside is up to date with interiors, has a lovely welcoming wall of thank you cards, nice reception room to chill

Nothing, we really liked staying at the Carlton - the owners Doug and Sharon were so lovely to us and made us feel really welcomed

Comfy beds, nice amount of pillows, and a beautiful bathroom. Quiet location with easy walking access to the centre, but this was a good 15-20 mins walk away. Bar is the hotel was nice, though closed at 10pm.

Location wise, we had thought it was a bit more central, so we definitely covered some ground walking wise during our stay! We didn’t have the breakfast, so can’t comment on that, but we did have a drink in the bar and they had a reasonable selection of decent wine.

Very well located and easy to find. Claire was a friendly host and made me feel very welcome. There was a small fridge in the room which I was not expecting.

Bathroom was very small and the washbasin was tiny making it difficult to wash in. No breakfast provision or kitchen facilities available.

The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water available for a bath. The room was clean. The breakfast was good quality but a long wait.

There was a shortage of staff available. We waited a full half hour for someone to come to reception to check us in at the prearranged time - around 4pm in the afternoon! (having rung the bell and rung the phone). There was another couple waiting too. The decor was shabby looking, with loose door handles and taps. The bathroom floor was very slippery. Breakfast was good, but again we sat in the restaurant for about 20 minutes before anyone came to serve us (the same person as the night before who was doing his best but seemed to be the only member of staff there!).

Very small room, it wasn’t as nice as it looks in the picture. Very bad smell in the bathroom, although it seemed clean. And the door wouldn’t stay closed. No hair drier no shampoo.
