Room was well decorated but grey so a bit gloomy. Bed and linen great. Bathroom was very nice. It was a nice touch to have carton of orange juice and apple juice in the fridge.

Room looked out on a wall. There was no riser bar on the shower head just a holder at waist level. Most women don’t use overhead showers and prefer to use the smaller shower head instead.This happens a lot in hotels where I would imagine rooms are designed by men. The tap on the way hand basin was loose and spun round. The kettle had dodgy electrical and power was intermittent and the plug fizzled. There Tv reception was poor so there was only one channel I could watch. The make receptionist was rude and dismissive. I asked him if I had prepaid and he said that he wouldn’t have given me my room key if I hadn’t.

5 min walk to pub lovely when fine. Would be less so if wet! Cooked breakfast good. Coffee less so! Staff very nice.

As elderly guests, a simple breakfast at the Hall would be a nice option! Eg coffee/tea, cereal, croissants, toast.

Sadly our first room was incredibly small, very dated and not very welcoming. It also had a very smelly drainage issue which lead to us moving rooms. This was dealt with quickly but still not the standard we were expecting for the price we paid. Maybe we were just unlucky.
