Positive section of review
The site was perfect for us exploring the southern Lakes, Arnside/Silverdale and Kirby Lonsdale area. The lodge was superb and really homely. The owner's communication was spot on and it's clear that they simply want guests to feel welcome and comfortable. The site looks lovely but we didn't stay long enough to use the facilities or wander around... you get the impression that the residents care about their site and it's spotless and well maintained. It just has a good vibe about it

It's not something that I didn't like but I was worried about the proximity to the M6 before I booked. It may be an issue for some guests but we found it not to be a problem at all. I prefer peace and quiet usually but there's no getting away with the fact that there is a hiss of tyres on tarmac from the motorway when you're outside on the decking however I must stress that your brain does tune it out and it disappears. When you're in the lodge it is barely noticeable. I think the site owners have done a great job with the noise cancelling landscaping. Don't let it put you off, I would revisit the lodge again if it's available.

The “pod room” is within a jetty and its moored in position. The pod had everything I would expect in a de luxe room. Good size, clean,nice furniture, a balcony with chairs overlooking the marina. Mini fridge, coffee machine, iron, hairdryer, robes, large tv with all the usual apps.

Unfortunately I had a couple of negative interactions with the staff. I had a restaurant reservation for 7pm and confirmed this on arrival. At 2 mins to 7 I received a call from the staff who said unless I ordered my meal BY 7 the kitchen would be closed! I was en route to the restaurant at the time. I said I booked for 7 it’s impossible to have an order in by 7 then? Why on arrival hadn’t anyone said come earlier? I was given no explanation. On arrival at 6:59 another couple were also be seated, we were then left standing for 4 mins while 2 other servers were just chatting ignoring us. I was then approached and I asked how can I have an order in by 7 if my booking was for 7, again no response. There were only 2 others tables in, including the other new arrivals, yet we were seated far away at a in laid table right at the rear by the service doors, there were 2 plastic signs near us an yet most of the other tables were full laid. I asked why we had been given such an awful table, were we being punished because it sure felt like that? No explanation was given, after a minute the server said , oh I thought u might like a window. It was a weird choice to seat us in the back on an unlaid table. It ruined my evening feeling unwanted. I was told the restaurant would be closed for maintenance after breakfast the next morning. Ok but what no one said is that on both Sunday/Monday sawing, electric sanding and general building noise started at 07:30 right next to my pod. A further point was prior to arrival I emailed , no response and called the hotel, much to my suprise the calls were not answered, how can a hotel not answer the phone? I informed them I was puzzled by this. They could not offer any explanation. The water pressure in the shower is very bad.

Really loud, other guests constantly throwing doors close in the middle of the night, ventilation fan in the bathroom did not stop until you cut the power to the room and ventilation fans outside the window.
