Lovely hotel right in the heart of the city . Stayed there with my young son for the brighton game . We had a lovely double room with a double bed and a single bed . Good aircon. Nice food & good service . Very friendly front of house staff . The young lady reassuring my young son that he could wear his Brighton top without any concerns . Very clean hotel & we found everyone we met in Newcastle hospitable & friendly . We hope to be back next season .

The location is central, right opposite central station and only 25mins walk from the OVO Hydro and even less to Buchanan Street. Staff were friendly and things were mostly clean.

The room was very old & worn - the carpet was threadbare in places, the bathroom floor had duct tape on it, the side of the bath was screwed on, and the two single beds were very basic with one being better than the other. The walls are very thin and you can hear both street noise and other guests.

The room had everything you would want, plus a fantastic view towards the sea. Breakfast was plentyful and good quality. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I thought for £15 there would be a buffet breakfast and more choice of cereal, fruit etc. I had the continental and as I don't eat bread there was little else. I did ask for croissants but they didn't have any . The waiter kindly brought some small pastries A bus party had just been in for breakfast which depleted the choice of availability

Easy to find, plenty room, clean, good communication

Little bit away from town for bars etc but only short taxi ride so not a real issue

The lodge needs maintenance. Furniture and fittings need a deep clean.
