welcoming staff, car parking facility, clean and comfortable, beautiful dining room, lovely old building with character. The large tear off map pages of Bristol such a help and a great idea. Lovely staff only too happy to book our taxi for us. Happy and helpful housekeeping person . We really liked having 2 types of electric fans in our room. Our stay was peaceful and pleasant and beautifully situated for Clifton area which we really enjoyed.

We do not have satnav, finding the hotel was a problem. Google map was not easy to work out . A call to the hotel itself was not much help either , eventually found the hotel but its signage was partly obscured by low hanging branches of a tree . We also had to duck under the branch to and from the hotel. We do realise it is a conservation area but the tree really does need cutting back a little. When booking the room it would have been helpful to know that the room was on the top floor and up several flights of stairs. Table service for breakfast was nice but we would have liked to choose from a menu, instead we had to ask what was on offer and its contents.

Easy walk from the train station to the hotel. Nice room with comfy bed & serendipitously a nice, long bath. Lovely pub that we spent our afternoon & evening in! Really enjoyed our meals (chicken curry for one of us & steak for the other and then we shared apple crumble). Breakfast the next morning was lovely & our server even popped out to get some soy milk for me as they had run out of it.

We can't think of anything we didn't like. We were in this part of the world to attend a family wedding. If we ever find ourselves in Newmarket again, this is where we will choose to stay.

The room was spacious, well furnished with a comfortable bed. Tea and coffee making were provided and there were adequate toiletries and clean towels. The room was cleaned and everything replenished after our first night.

Fantastic location close to The Minster and other areas of interest. Warm and friendly reception staff. Valet parking was brilliant. The room was really nice and beautifully maintained.

Comfy bed and pillows, friendly helpful staff. The kindly looked after my luggage on checkout for a few hours and phoned taxis for me.

I was baffled by the hotplate but one of the girls showed me how to operate it. Some difficulty with getting in and out of the shower/bath, too high, a handrail next to the bath would have assisted.

The heating in the first room was locked on, was very hot and couldn’t be controlled. We were moved to an upgraded room was much more comfortable and adjustable. No air conditioning.

I didn't stay overnight and left about 9pm. To be honest, I felt the room was dirty. The toilet had a really horrible smell and the shower wasn't clean, it had shamppo/shower gel still on the tiles. The bedding wasn't ironed and the window was filthy. Overall we felt really uncomfortable as someone attempted to enter the room while we were in there and would have got in if we hadn't locked it. If I had realised I was booking the former student halls of residence for the college, I wouldn't have booked at all as I've booked far superior hotel rooms in Glasgow through this site for roughly the same price.
