Travel Gurus sharing their best tips

How does it work?

  • 1

    It starts with a booking

    It starts with a booking

The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

  • 2

    Followed by a trip

    Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

  • And finally, a review

    And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

    - “I had a wonderfull small holiday at Mandarin. It was a first experience for us at this hotel group and for sure we will try the Mandarin in other cities from now on. We had a deluxe premier room and it was very spacious, very clean, large bathroom. I appreciated the treats we received when we entered the room (fruits and candies), a personalized hand-written note, the butler’s 24h service, the sound system, the beach/pool bag… We asked for a specific higher-floor room with view towards the Icon Siam Mall and we received just that! It felt that we were trully taken care of! The pool was a good retreat after visiting the city with a perfect blend of private and nature. The ice-cream “on the house” offered at noon was a cool bonus. We could use the facilities and pool untill afternoon when we left for the airport and it was a great rest before the flight. We rented a car with deuver for Ayutthaya and it was great. The driver Kid always offered us cooling cold napkins with great smell when we finished visiting temples. He was a good guide and we had the most one could do in this 7 hour tour. Breakfast is delicious and with a variety of foods. Omlette was delicious! The boat to cross to the mall is a big plus! … and it is very nice to just take a ride. Loved everything!”

Seemed odd to have a coffee machine but no pods, likewise a DVD player and CD player - maybe I missed that on the description.

Location was great, staff were great, although breakfast was a bit of a shambles. Breakfast itself was average.

The bath shower was very awkward. The sloping roof over the bath made it difficult to stand for a shower and I am not very tall!

The electric cooker kept playing up. We had to keep pulling the fridge out and switching it on and off. The shower door wouldn’t stay closed while we washed - this was extremely annoying! Pillows and mattress could do with updating.

Only one chair n room for two people. No wardrobe, just a couple of hangers, fortunately the en-suite was quite large and we could put our suitcases and live out of them. Room only cleaned if we asked. We wanted to sit in the lounge but were told we could not as it was only open when the bar was open. And worst of all the crockery was not clean. My husband made a pot of tea and placed it on the table with the spout facing me, To my horror the spout was disgustingly filthy and I dont think tho pot had ever been washed and the cups were all stained.

I had gone for a staycation as it was my wife’s birthday with her and our 4 month old baby. To start with, the room was so old and the floor was so creaky. We had booked a family room and to my surprise the room didn’t even have a fridge which I think is basic in any hotel room! We had to store my baby’s milk and we asked the reception desk and they asked us to pay an additional £15 for gettin a fridge fitted in our room! I had already paid £132 pounds for a very mediocre room and they wanted to charge me extra for a basic requirement. They gave us an alternative of giving us an ice bucket from the bar insted as a makeshift fridge which we eventually ended up using but as expected, it failed to keep the milk cool enough for storage and we ended up throwing it. The flush in the bathroom wouldn’t work! There were strands of hair on the bathroom floor The ceiling was cracked with some amateur patchwork done to it! The highlight to all this is the next morning when we had to get ready, we noticed that they had no toothbrushes either! Hotels we have visited have always had a tiny dental kit with a toothbrush and a toothpaste. But they had nothing and when we asked in the reception they firmly informed us that they do not supply it! They had a bodywash dispenser but there was no bodywash in it either! Overall, the experience was so bad! We hated the stay and vacated as soon as we could. I feel very bad for booking this hotel and will never go back.
