The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

Excellent location in Headington with bus stops for city centre literally across the street. Staff at reception were very helpful in accommodating all our requests. Room was quite spacious. Complimentary bottle of water for each guest every day was a very nice gesture.

Room and furnishing were quite outdated. Need better sound and light isolation for the windows.

Bed was very comfortable. Room was clean. The communal areas in the hotel have character and are beautiful. Great location within walking distance of the centre. We were able to leave the card there all day after checking out while we spent time in the town.

I didn't find this place to be value for money. I know you're probably paying more because of the spa facilities but if like us you're only staying one night and don't get to use the spa, the hotel isn't really value for money. We stayed in one of the modern rooms but the furniture was a bit tired. The bathroom door didn't close. There was no working extractor fan - you could open the window but it allowed people to see in. Thought it was a bit cheeky to charge for parking as this is free at most hotels. The cooked breakfast was terrible and not worth the money. We had originally decided not to have breakfast but changed our minds after checking in so asked to add it, thinking it would be around £10 each - it was £18 each! I thought that at least for that price the cooked breakfast was bound to be a good, freshly cooked breakfast. There was a continental buffet available and the hot food was a buffet as well unless you wanted a vegetarian/vegan cooked breakfast. There were sausages, smoked bacon (I dislike smoked bacon - surely every decent hotel knows not to serve smoked bacon unless you're also providing unsmoked as not everyone likes it), black pudding, mushrooms, eggs (one type, no scrambled), potato pancakes, beans. No tomatoes. The sausages and mushrooms were wrinkly as though they'd been sitting there a long time. When I got the food back to my table it wasn't even warm - so I effectively paid £18 for a cold cooked breakfast which had been sitting there for a long time and tasted just average. In fact I would have preferred to have had something like smoked salmon or avocado on toast or eggs Benedict/Royale straight from the kitchen but if you wanted this instead of the buffet breakfast (there's no way I could have eaten both) you had to pay an extra £5 - so if, like me, you prefer to have this option instead of any of the buffet options, you'd have to pay £23 for it!

Lovely location and accommodation. Towels and linens lovely, excellent bed.

The TV was a bit hard but that shouldn't really matter given the wonderful surroundings. The bathroom was very small but clean and sparkly .

Lovely clean hotel with good breakfast and nice staff.

The room was too small for two people, and not enough room in the wardrobe for two and no drawers, and was further to walk from town centre than was said.

Lovely grounds quiet location.

Still needs updating but good to see things improving . Nice to see food available and people dining in the room upstairs. The bedroom allocated had issues with damp which may have been rectified but still left a damp odor.Evidence looked like a replastered section of the wall directly outside the room. I was too tired to request a room change as I had arrived late. The stairs to the pool are very steep and the lift was out of action. There is a stair lift.

Breakfast (too few items, too crowded, not a variety of food for a 4* hotel) Staff (not to hospitable, not very fluent English)
