We are extremely grateful for the service provided by the Methuen Arms during our stay. My husband suddenly developed a fever, Mrs Samantha Kramer helped us a lot. She allowed us delay check out, helped us find information about the nearest emergency hospital and also offered her own contact details to use as an emergency contact at the hospital. We are deeply thankful for her kindness and support.

The premises had been totally refurbished and a lift installed to create 9 apartments in two previous properties. Gardens tastefully landscaped in an excellent location 8-10 minute walk from the Piccadilly line.

The problems and the lack of response from the host regarding them. We were there for one week. One dishwasher tab, one Chux, one tea towel and no scourer. A pervasive smell of sewer methane continually wafted from the bathtub waste. Needed to constantly have the plug filled and water in the bathtub. Many fittings were broken or missing: front window lock; holland blind chain to actuate the blind up and down in the bedroom. Hence nothing to block the sun at 4.30am. Had to purchase new batteries for the television remote control as it was inoperable without the remote. The cable television went down Tuesday with nothing resolved by when we departed on Saturday. An admission from them on Friday night as to they perhaps needing to confirm they had paid the service provider. Additionally, the hot water service was installed in a “wardrobe” in the lounge room. However, there was also a water system pressure pump in the same wardrobe which would engage if the toilet flushed or the tap was turned on. This drowned out conversation (or hearing the television) for the time of the water running. The “cupboard”requires significant acoustic damping. All done by them at electronic arms length with “We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience during your stay……”. No favourable resolution of issues and no offer for recompense for our out of pockets nor part refund for premises that stunk of stale sewage.
