Royal Tunbridge Wells, United Kingdom
Positive section of review
The hotel was a perfect base for our 3-day visit to historic sites near Royal Tunbridge Wells. Chartwell, Scotney Castle, Ingtham Mote, Bayham Abbey, Chiddingstone, and Hever Castle are all less than 30 minutes away by car. The breakfast was outstanding, and we also enjoyed a meal at the cozy restaurant and pub that is clearly well patronized by local residents, always a good sign. There was ample parking. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly.

Our room was quite small and looked out onto a back corner of the parking area. But it was comfortable and we would return without hesitation.

Quick and easy check in, great no frills room Fantastic price of £34 for one night stay as was only using the room to sleep.

Room was exceptionally hot. Wasn't peak summer or exceptionally sunny and the room was over 25 degrees despite opening the window during the night meaning from 4.30am the room was bright as no curtains only blind (which didn't work with window open.)

Lovely old hotel and the staff were very pleasant. Unfortunately there was a language barrier with some
Negative section of review
For the cost of the room I expected better. Breakfast was an additional charge. Also there were some things that needed attention in the room. A loose lock. Wallpaper peeling up and not all the lamps worked. Reception were pretty clueless on check in. I had 2 rooms booked and they didn't understand and repeatedly told me I was checked in despite me saying but you have only given me keys to one room and showing my reservation clearly with 2 rooms. As time was against it was very frustrating having that language barrier.

Stunning location - friendly staff who offered us extras to compensate for the lack of any hot water
Negative section of review
There was a problem with hot water - apparently they had tried to contact me to warn me and offer a cancellation but we were travelling. Our lovely room had curtains that were is shreds on the side, a chair with the underneath hanging down and a dirty skirting board by my bed.

Location good, proximity to railway station & shops. Good quality food at breakfast.
Negative section of review
Room not ready at check- in time , 30 min. delay. Room had fixed secondary double glazing, no other ventilation and was so hot that sleep was impossible. Bathroom in a very poor state of repair, messy grouting repairs & opaque plastic film peeling off window. Not an acceptable standard of finish.

All was good. The food was superb. I will go back.

I’m not sure how it would be to stay here in Summer as the windows don’t open, and I didn’t see any fans in the cupboard.
