I loved our stay, the room was cosy and was beautiful, plenty of storage for our stuff which I liked, it was peaceful throughout the house which I also liked and the kitchen facilities, we could cook, there was a washing machine so we could do some washing, a dishwasher and cleaning products available so it was easier to clean the kitchen after we had done cooking

The neighbours were a little bit of a nightmare they were banging on the wall and complaining about the noise and then for three days straight all they were doing was drilling and hammering which was annoying and made it difficult for me and my boyfriend to relax for the rest of our stay there, if it wasnt for those neighbours I would definitely stay again

Food was decent enough. Facilities reasonable and bed comfortable. Reasonable location, Haymarket train station is a 10-15 minute walk away

Britannia hotels tend to be cheaper than other comparable hotels, there is a reason for this. The building itself is run-down and in need of a lick of paint (this has been the case with every Britannia hotel I have stayed at.) Electric lights failed on second night I was there (credit where it’s due this was identified to have been caused by a broken master switch and was fixed very quickly.) I also noticed some sort of water leak or buildup of damp in the carpet by the window (this was on the morning I left the hotel & continued my journey.)

There was no drinking water in the room, no tissues, no bar. The pillows didn't have protective covers. The floor by the lavatory had urine splashes. There was an adjoining door so noise of the couple having sex and groaning was awful . Prior to that we wanted bar food at 20 past 9 pm. We waited and waited but no one would serve us, even though it was quiet in the bar, as there was only one person serving in the bar. Although bar food was served until 10.45 pm we couldn't get a meal or a drink.We went to reception and they told us to go to our room to order room service. Room service wouldn't answer the phone. So I had to go to reception to ask for roomservice to respond the night manager was helpful, apologised and said he'd order room service for us. Unfortunately it didn't arrive until 10.45 pm. The order was wrong, I asked for no bacon it came with bacon. I ordered sparkling water, it didn't come. After eating we tried to sleep but the sexual noises from next room continued. I went to reception again, this time in my nightwear to ask for a quiet room. The night manager was very good, apologised again and got us a room with no noisy neighbours and we moved after midnight. The night manager was excellent but our stay at the hotel was awful and we'd never return. We were surprised by the lack of soundproofing and the shortage of staff and facilities ( they kept saying we have a function on and are short-staffed) it made our stay away a miserable experience.
