  The grounds were lovely, reception area was nice. The bar was open, but no one there to serve us a drink and when I asked if there was food available, it was just sandwiches. That's not a problem, but it did feel like there wasn't really anyone to make us sandwiches and the welcome could have been warmer.

  The walk to the room wasn't hoovered, our bathroom bin hadn't been emptied and sanitary towels were in the bin. Red hot water from the tap but the shower was just about warm enough. We could hear everything from the room above, which was a surprise. The cooked breakfast was awful. I would strongly recommend anyone give this a miss.

  The setting is stunning, we saw several deer in the garden from the terrace. Staff all helpful & friendly but not intrusive. Breakfast choices were superb. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Will be back.

  We had to wait on a staircase to be seated in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. I found it very unsafe, as someone walking down the stairs could have knocked in to you. The food wasn’t as good as I expected for fine dining. I ordered poached eggs at breakfast and they were almost hard with cold white toast. I’ve had nicer breakfasts in less expensive hotels.
