The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.
2
When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

The building was stunning and location perfect. Breakfast was delicious with a good range of options. The staff upon arrival and leaving were wonderful.

Although a stunning building, our room was a little tired. The toilet handle snapped in my hand and the jacuzzi feature did not work. We paid an extra £20 for a late checkout but an hour before cleaners were banging on our door. I was in the bath and my partner asleep so I had to answer the door in a towel and explain about the late checkout, which made me feel a little uncomfortable.

Cottage was lovely and heating was on low when we arrived so nice and cozy. Gorgeous location. Only an overnight stay but would stay again

No towels or tea towels, not told of this before arrival Handrail coming away on the stairs, this is dangerous especially as stairs are very steep

Being in a beautifully decorated room in a historic building (Elizabethan?) in the centre of Totnes. The (shared) bathroom was excellent.

Not a problem for me, but being on the second floor meant a lot of stairs. Ear plugs (provided) are needed as it is on the main street, and there are a lot of noisy pigeons.

i liked the facilities and the rooms, fridge and cooking items available for self catering if you wished.

some of the furniture looking a bit shaby due to bad treatment in the past but nothing too terrible.

The hotel is shabby, unkempt and badly presented. The room was unclean, missing a bedside lamp and hairdryer and there were dirty towels in the bathroom. We were expected to pay for our three nights stay up front before we had settled into the room (we had not even taken our coats off). The bed was so uncomfortable we were unable to sleep. Breakfast was 'English Breakfast', with no alternative on offer. On mentioning this to the manager she became abusive, defensive and accusatory including; claiming there was nothing wrong with the bed, we were basing our complaint on previous reviews of the hotel and even accusing us of not telling her of any medical conditions we have (which we don’t have). We were unable to respond further as she put the phone down on us.
