First point - the sign in Welsh around the car park tell you that parking is free for hotel guests. The only one in English is by the reception door, so you may end up paying and not needing to. (I speak Welsh, so I didn’t pay). Check in is a bit of a faff. You have the document to sign, need a credit card and a photo ID. No idea why they need all of that. The room was ok - pretty dated, but the bed was clean and comfy. The shower is designed by a man for a man - fixed head, have to lean through the spray to adjust the temperature. Shower head could do with a clean. Good location - bit noisy, but ok.

For £10 more, we could have had the relative luxury of a Premier Inn.

I really liked the room. I was lovely, spacious, very clean and well appointed. And a good big TV set, at eye level, rather than up in the sky mounted on a wall as unfortunately in most places. Bed was very comfortable. Nice comfortable chair supplied. It was the best room I have stayed in for ages, but it was expensive by my standards. Some lovely paintings in the property. The lady who runs the place was very friendly and helpful - even carried one of my bags up when she showed me to my room (most places don't bother to show me to the room these days).

Some noise, especially when woken at 3am by an amourous couple in the next room - loud banging of their bed against the wall nearest my bed. Some noise from coughing and suchlike several times from a room next to mine. Bit of an issue with hot water in the washbasin - i.e. there wasn't any. This wasn't a huge problem for me, but it could be for others.

Loved where it was situated, beautiful views. Close to amenities. We went to Carlisle a couple of times and was only 20 minutes' drive. Cabin was just heaven, so quiet and peaceful. Was a home from home, and we will definitely be back

Great location for accessing the Northern Lake District fells by car or bus. Had an amazing weekend of fell running and orienteering. Restaurants and supermarket close by as well as river.

Andy the owner/manager was very friendly. He even arranged breakfast before 5am on the day of the sailing race.

The only problem I had was that the shower wasn’t working as expected. It’s a shame because it doesn’t cost a lot to fix the shower. I would either get very cold or very hot water. However, after I had a chat with Andy he offered me a 1 night refund which was justified because bed and shower are the two most important things everyone looks for. They would definitely have better reviews if they fixed the shower mechanism.
