We chose the location since Liver View is so near to Seacombe Ferry - in order to cross over to Liverpool the following day. Cost wise it most likely saved us pounds! However, there is plenty to see in Birkenhead, too; we took a short drive to New Brighton on the eve of our arrival. Liver View is very spacious, clean, freshly painted, light and airy. We parked our car in their car park behind the hotel. Dave, the owner, is exceptionally friendly and chatty and attended to showing us around the hotel initially, and cooked us a delicious full English breakfast. We stayed 2 nights. Very comfortable bed.

The fact that we were not staying longer!

Everything, from the little touches of milk and fruit and cookies basket to the spectacular view. The beds were super comfy and huge for both of us to have a bed each. The property is a home from home environment, I would recommend this to anyone, especially if you want just animal and bird noises. Ali was so welcoming and such a lovely host.

So cosy and peaceful The owner is lovely and very helpful Has everything you need for your stay Equipped with a microwave, toaster & kettle and a reasonably sized fridge (small freezer to store your ice lollies!) The grounds are gorgeous and the view is unbelievable

Nothing - it was a perfect stay for us and wouldn’t hesitate to rebook!

Great location, easy parking. Spacious room with nice separate table to get ready, use laptop etc. super comfortable large bed and decent sized TV. Main bar and dining areas are great with different seating areas to choose from. Fantastic dinner and lovely breakfast.

Staff could have been a bit better, we were given menus but ended up going to the bar to order after some time. Shower in the room could’ve been better but these are minor niggles on a great place to stay.

All the amenities you would need for a short stay, lovely little extras, like the welcome basket and coffee machine. Very responsive, communicative and seemingly friendly host.

The double bed was two singles pushed together and so I struggled to sleep due to the lump in the middle of the bed. The property was clean except for the tv remote which seemed to have debris and so weird sweat droplets on the buttons. The bathroom needs some TLC, the toilet roll holder was broken but still in the wall, and there were plastic trims behind the toilet by the toilet rolls that fell off when you touched them.

Location of the apartment was really convenient. 5 min walk to the tube station, 5 min walk to shopping way. There was food nearby if you needed a quick bite.

The facilities like the common bathroom shower was not working, I tried to explain to them that the control was not working which was really inconvenient for me as that was the best bathroom to shower my 3 year old, to be fair to them they did send their utility guy down, but they did not manage to resolve the issue. The Wifi was also another issue, it was strong only at the walkway, once you go to the livingroom or into the Masterbed room, you will not be able to get wifi.

The bathroom was spacious and the bed was quite comfortable. Located quite close to underground and some nice pubs nearby.

We had a very good stay at Montcalm back in 2019, staff were exceptionally friendly back then and made our stay very special, more so that it had been a celebratory weekend. Therefore, we returned, but things had definitely changed. I e-mailed the property in advance, informing them we were staying for an occasion, and whether they could add some small special touches. I heard nothing back. The first room we were given had paint peeling all around the ceiling, there was a scrunched up coaster on the bedside table, one of the lights in the bathroom was broken. It seemed to be (or have been) an accessible room, so it was spacious, but there was a post/column right in the middle of the room , again paint peeling off, which just made the room look even worse. I asked us to be moved to another room, and of the choice we were given, the one we picked was ok. Although it was a "suite" room, which meant the other room was separated only by connecting door so we could hear the conversation on the other side into early hours. Also the TV was very old and no options to connect to Netflix or any other apps. The staff were polite but didn't excel. All in all, a rather disappointing stay, and we would not return.
