Such a comfortable room. A wonderful welcome from friendly staff, who were ready for me after I had made a long train journey. The beer was great and the live music a real bonus. I would definitely stay here again... i would even bring the wife!

The location is amazing and the place itself is reaaaally nice! With a nice cafeteria on the first floor. Breakfast was ok as well and pretty easy to move from there from the King's Cross Station

Very friendly staff. Beautiful location. Castle is amazing. Spa was lovely and relaxing. My room in the lodge was very nice and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

The bridge to get to the lodge was very narrow for a car to cross. As it was raining I did take the car but it’s a tight squeeze. Would be better if there was a buggy or something that the porter can take you and your cases to the lodge.

The staff were, in the main, delightful. Breakfast was good.

The furniture in the property was extremely uncomfortable. There were no comfy chairs available in the rooms or public areas except the bar, just Victorian furniture which was tatty and uncomfortable. Perhaps a policy decision had been made that an old Manor House should be fitted with period furniture. Perhaps that’s not a bad idea in some respects - in corridors and the entrance hall - but it needs to be comfortable in the bedrooms. The room I was allocated was supposedly ‘executive’. It had a wonky old bureau reminiscent of something from my grandmother’s home donkeys years ago. It was simply inadequate. I had only an upright chair to sit on. I was moved to a non-executive room that at least had a tolerable desk but again an upright chair. That was fine to sit on to work but not to relax. When I asked for an armchair I was given another upright chair but with arms. It made a hard week of late night working remarkably difficult and uncomfortable. The reception staff were really pleasant but this hotel is not fit for 2024.
