Essentially, this was an excellent place with a few minuses, most of which could be easily addressed. Very clean and tidy. Great view. Comfy bed. Quiet area. Safe parking directly outside. Walkable into the city, but be aware that it is uphill on the way back with steep steps to the door. Not far from bus stops, also uphill on the way back. If you intend to use the local buses much, buy a pass online or on the bus, as it works out much cheaper.

Venetian blinds in the bedrooms, so you don't get any darkness after sunrise. Limited storage and hanging space, which could be a problem if you have 4/5 people staying. One toilet roll for a week-long stay, no spare bags for the swing bin, no toilet cleaner, fridge a bit iced up. Cooker and microwave a bit old, but worked fine. Kitchen knives not very sharp and one had a wonky handle. Poorly laid out system next to the kitchen sink for draining the washing up, which was difficult to keep clean and dry. Settee has legs that are designed to stub your toes on, but maybe I've just got big feet. Small shower cubicle with only a tiny shelf for putting soap etc. on. Cooker extractor fan external louvre very noisy when the wind blows. Wall heaters make strange chirping noises as they heat up. All minor points individually, but they just added up. They didn't ruin our stay!

We had booked the Palace theatre for the show and wanted something close by, this was excellent because it was right on the door stop. We were only staying one night and whilst the rooms are small it was perfect for what we needed. Staff were extremely friendly. We were heading to a football match and needed our tickets printed, the staff were lovely and accommodated this request.

The cottage was lovely steeped in history but with all the mod cons. The location was so convenient with a special passage to the high street. Rebecca was a great host and she left us a cake!

The stone stairs were a bit of a challenge but we knew they were there. And any way it’s a 300 year old cottage. Honestly there was nothing we didn’t like.

Room very small. No heating, fridge stinks and blanket very thin for room with no heating. Thin walls can hear every single cars drop past plus noise from airplanes.
