Well situated in Alnwick but very difficult to access, the reception is closed and building locked until the bar opens, the car park is ample but the access is incredibly tight to navigate .
Negative section of review
The fact it is unmanned and locked at night. The fire escape ( only point of entry/exit for residents out of hours)is very difficult to manage. No lift Room small with no windows, a slightly open, out of reach, skylight was only natural light It must surely be frightening if there is a fire, unbearable in hot weather. No breakfast is offered by the hotel

The outside of the hotel is not appealing and may put people off. It need to look neater or more aesthetically pleasing.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Specifically the receptionist Hanab, and maintenance person Kevin.

* Floors were covered in large black scuff marks * Much of the furniture is all scratched * Corridors smelled of a combination of solvent and garbage, and the blue carpet had white stains all over it * The sofa was very uncomfortable - felt old and broken * When I arrived and asked the receptionist for some help I was told to come back tomorrow as he was new * The bottom of the bath was grimy with black marks on it * Broken spotlight in the bathroom * The paint on the walls was chipped, and multiple spots had been badly plastered over * Lamp in the bedroom was broken, and when I moved it I saw a ring of dirt on the dresser * The drier didn't work. I was given the key to an apartment one floor down. This meant I had to haul my soaking wet laundry downstairs with no basket. I was told someone would come to fix the drier the next day, but nobody did

Very friendly and lovely countryside around.

The food was very tasty, but the prices were very high. I spent over £30 on fish pie and peas (tasty but not enormous), a soft drink, and a small bowl of nuts. I had been warned that the food was pricey but the chef put it all together after he'd finished service so I didn't ask for the price beforehand. So, just check prices before, but a lovely place to eat.
