Super location, spacious and comfortable self-catering property, with all amenities (including an easy-to-use washing machine) and everything fully functional. Plenty of towels, cutlery/cups/glasses/plates/electric kettle/toaster etc. Excellent wifi, TV. Close proximity to the sea and shops/bars/restaurants literally outside the front entrance, but the flat is very quiet as it overlooks the RN playing fields, not Gunwharf itself. I arrived 2 hours prior to 15:00 check-in, but the owner let me into the property immediately. Will definitely stay there again.

The room was pleasant, the bed was comfortable and the shower worked. The breakfast scrambled eggs were overcooked, but the choice was varied. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Over cooked eggs, but as I only had eggs and toast, I cannot comment on the rest of the food. My son had sausages and said they were good.

We have stayed here twice and will stay again as perfect location for us but we do struggle with the stairs. Would also prefer a walk in shower rather than in a bath. But these things would just make our stay easier.

We had to thoroughly clean the property on arrival. We were informed immediately about a ladybird infestation in the kitchen, however this bothered us less than the overall state of the cottage. When we informed the host about this, she immediately provided us with a hoover and cleaning product and cloths. However this is not how we wanted to start our one night stay! The main bedroom carpet was particularly unclean and badly stained. The main bathroom was very tired, poor flooring and the shower needed cleaning out and the sealant needs replacing. The shower door does not close fully. The waste needs to be cleaned out as the water gathers too much in the shower tray. The downstairs toilet floor has excessive condensation. All the window ledges were covered in dead insects and cobwebs. The porch ceiling was covered in cobwebs full of dead insects. The television and stand was covered in dust. My bed sheet had what looked like blood stains on it. It would be good seeing as a travel cot was provided, if stair gates were provided as well. My husband spoke with the host before we left to inform her of our dismay and she has offered a 25% discount on another stay. However we think this is not good enough and feel that she owes us a refund to that value. Seeing as she provided a welcome package, surely she could have taken a look at her cottage and seen all that we had to deal with!

Reception staff were flippant towards us ,and not really very helpful with luggage etc as we had to cancel a second night as a situation had come up. My wife and I are in our late seventies so sometimes we need a little help--we did not get it at this hotel.
