It is a marvelous building with a nice Victorian touch. Nice pub wit friendly staff and a dining room with wood fires like you've never see before. The building is almost 200y old and lots of details are also antique. So, if you see reviews about things about the hotel that we're maybe outdated or even malfunction, that's it... How nice to stay in a monument in these days of chain hotels. Thank you again for your Friendly welcome and service, good pubfood, quality breakfast. We loved it.....

The location was insanely good. Easy walk or bus to Hyde park. Super easy access to buses and tube - we just got around on regular public transport and didn’t bother with any special tourist buses. Fantastic coffee and food and supermarkets on our door step

A short walk from Victoria coach or rail station this hotel is in a good location. Nicely decorated in the en-suite, the shower was great - however did leak intermittently throughout our stay. The bed itself was smaller than expected yet comfortable.

All that said, we were on the lower ground and we couldn’t rest or sleep due to the sounds of the tube every couple of minutes. We could hear people in the room above us, and heavy doors meant people going in and out of their rooms resulted in the door slamming. I guess it would be ok to stay for one night if you are coming into the city for an evening out and won’t be returning to the room till after midnight. We had booked a room to get some rest before our next day of travel so it was frustrating that we couldn’t get the sleep we needed. Sadly the staff were not overly helpful either, whilst I appreciate the hotel was fully booked and they couldn’t do anything about the situation, they clearly didn’t care either. Cleanliness the bathroom was ok but the room was questionable with suspect white marks on the floors and the throw that went over the bed!

There is no microwave to heat your own food Also there is no fridge in the room for any storage Stay couldn't help with anyway to warm up food that their microwave will be conmonated

On street parking is a bit difficult and you have to be gone by 9am. My room had the tiniest bathroom and the overhead sink light didn’t work. Flights of small stairs very difficult to negotiate with a suitcase. This was the first place on our travels around where we didn’t even try it. Unfortunately, the reception staff smoke in the open doorway so the whole downstairs reception/kitchen/dining area reeks of cigarettes. Just before we arrived we were called to say that the previous guest had left with a door key to my friend’s room, so she couldn’t access the room unless the staff unlocked it each time. Our stay was a bit disappointing after arriving in the dark and rain.
