The owner invited us to look at the stars through his telescope and was happy to talk to us at length.”

  The room was very quiet and the staff were friendly. Nice range of toiletries.

  A wedding taking place meant the restaurant and communal area were inaccessible, we should have been told. The room was a decent size but quite shabby. Shower was poor, difficult to maintain a comfortable heat.

  Spacious entrance and bar. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was good.

  A leatherette chair in our bedroom was falling to pieces and was a health and safety hazard. Pieces of the leather tea were all over the floor. To be fair when returned to reception we received an apology and a discount on the cost of our room. The price of the room was excessive, as was the additional cost of the car park per night, as the hotel was nowhere near the town centre and the hotel was quite inaccessible, especially as there were events taking place locally which made the journey around Winchester difficult.

  The location was great it was in a lovely area my only complaint was someone near by on karaoke until 12.30am the first night we arrived which stopped us sleeping after that it was great but I suppose you are just outside a city it would not put me off going again.
