I was in Cumbria for a wedding party and chose the Hare and Hounds as a convenient place to stay as I came by train. It is an absolute gem. Lovely room, big bathroom with a bath and separate shower very nicely appointed. Fantastic food both at breakfast and dinner. The staff were absolutely lovely which you need when travelling alone. I stayed an extra night. Even without a car there are sights to see in easy walking distance: Sizergh (NT), Levens Hall.

Nothing, everything was super

Location superb. Spotlessly clean. Light, airy and bright for a basement. Communication with owner excellent quick to answer a few queries and sort minor issue. Everything you need. Sofa bed and main bed very comfortable as both good quality.

People upstairs noisy until 1.40am so bring ear plugs if using sofa bed in lounge. Needs blind on front door to stop light coming through when using sofa bed. Shower needs a grab rail and rubber shower mat as slippery when wet plus a proper mat to step out on, not the current 'wee mat' (yuck) around toilet! Small tweaks to make just perfect.

An ideal holiday home! Well maintained with an attention to detail. Comfortable beds, a lovely big bath with plenty of hot water to soak in and a well equipped kitchen. Rooms were spacious and the grounds were well maintained.

Although you looked over fields and the view was beautiful, the property backed onto a road, so you could hear traffic noise. Saying this, I would still recommend this property and revisit it.

I love the location and ease of storing bags. The lobby always is nice and businesslike. Rooms are well stocked with water and hot kettle fur tea and coffee. Good bed and linens

The windowless rooms vary in size. At the end of the hall which narrows as the building tapers they are several inches narrower. We were offered at check in a larger room with windows for a small fee. I would have said yes but husband no. We should have done it so pick the larger room.

View was wonderful. Very nice room and comfortable bed!

Lack of parking. It was extremely difficult to find a parking space. The hotel is along a very narrow cobbled street. I had to drop my luggage at the hotel and then try to find a space for my car in the town. Unfortunately it was raining which added to the problem!

It was great … the walls are thin. You hear your room neighbours mobile phone vibration alert.
