The views were gorgeous and the room was beautiful. We went on a long walk during our trip and went to visit the town across the Dam. It was beautiful and the weather cleared up nicely during our trip. The spa was lovely and was almost always very quiet we used it twice during our visit.

Personally the mattress on the bed was very old and I had a lot of back pain and didn’t sleep well during my trip. Although this didn’t stop me enjoying my trip I have had surgery in the last year so my back pain and hip pain is very bad and the bed didn’t help with this pain. My partner and myself also were surprised by the prices of the food for evening meals at the restaurant. I think from memory the menu had 7-10 options the most expensive being a £35 fillet steak and the cheapest being £18, personally the dish had which was the salmon although cooked beautifully the other elements on the plate didn’t make sense and tasted very bland. My partner had the Shepards pie but what arrived our table it wasn’t really a Shepard’s pie or something of that nature. We had checked the menus at the hotel before booking and these prices are not reflected on the menu on the website. The steak was £30 online and everything else was much cheaper so this was a surprise. My partner was also surprised and disappointed by the fact that the lunch/light bites menu was not the same on the website either and since has changed to tapas where each item on that menu was ranging for £7-£9. We ended up on our second night for dinner going out to source dinner from somewhere else but as the hotel is in the middle of the country side the closest restaurant was 30 mins away. Which wasn’t the worst but as the drive was mainly down single track roads this made us both a little stressed. We would have been happy to eat all our meals at the hotel if the prices were a little more reasonable. We may not have booked the stay at all if the prices and menu items were correctly represented on the website.

Amazing Location. Highly recomend the Caxton Arms around the corner where we enjoyed a free comedy night. Very handy for the station. Hosts were really easy to communicate with.

Relatively unpleasant environment, dated and a little dirty. Nothing horrendous, but basically just passable for one night, the purpose being to stay close to King’s Cross without spending much money.
