This characterful, somewhat quirky cottage had excellent facilities, including all the expected utilities - washer-dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and a slow cooker, which we always find useful! It was particularly well equipped with crockery, cutlery and glassware, unlike the fairly minimal amounts often provided(!), and was very well stocked with books, games and DVDs. Set in a quiet village, this was an ideal "get away from it all" destination, providing us with a good base to explore a hitherto unfamiliar area. We enjoyed visits to Watchet and Porlock, Knightshayes (National Trust), and particularly Dunster (Village and Castle [NT]) and the farmers' market at Taunton (one Saturday and one Sunday each month).

The floorboards on the first floor were incredibly squeaky, making it hard to get up in the night without waking your partner. The ground floor rooms have low beams and doorways, which were not ideal for my 6' 3" frame. Although I almost perfected walking with a slight stoop, I still managed to hit my head 11 times during the week. The parking space is ample, but the access is through a fairly narrow gateway, with quite a tight turn in off the road (from the "normal" direction of approach), so it needs careful negotiation.

The host was very helpful. It was a budget stay with perfectly adequate spacious room for a one night stay. Very quiet at night and a comfortable bed to seep in. Plus a big bonus having off street parking
