Location was good for the purpose of our stay. Safe parking. It is a lovely building and bar stays open for an after dinner drink. Clean rooms. I have to highlight the very clean carpets as well. Usually in these old buildings carpets have a funny smell, but not here. Very pleased with that.

There’s nothing wrong with the hotel, it provides basic functional rooms with a very clean environment. However, I found it a bit overpriced for what they provide. Breakfast was sufficient but wouldn’t call it lovely as other reviews mentioned. Very thin walls so you can hear the person next door moving around even if they are trying to be quiet. Probably just a characteristic of these old buildings.

The name is misleading. It’s not luxury. Small room, which just fitted a double bed. But it was totally okay for the one night.

Breakfast, not enough staff for number of covers. Food not being replenished so had to track down staff members to ask for food & when finally replenished & returned to table it had been cleared of coffee & juice etc so had to start again. Had to source our own knives & forks etc which although not the worse thing in the world but bit frustrating & not expected in a hotel of this quality.

On the day of check in I had to contact the property twice for access details, they assured me emails and texts had been sent which was incorrect. For a property of this calibre I would have expected drinking water to be supplied, as every pub and previous accommodation we stayed in had done. For a 2 night stay, inadequate tea, coffee & sugar provisions.

The receptionist Dawn was extremely rude & unhelpful. She couldn’t find the reservation and even after we gave her our names she said no booking. I Found the booking on my app and hey presto she found it, no apology, very rude & abrupt. Dawn N , you have been given a rude name by me and we laughed at you on our lovely holiday and think you should get a new job!!! I took your name so I could complain about you
