The bed was comfortable. The bed linen smelt fresh. I was surprised that, when I arrived, there was a note with my name on it on the door saying that the owner was out looking for a cat, that the door was open and that my key was on the counter! That says a lot about the location in Yelverton.

The "sofa" in the room was low, as if suited to a primary or pre-school environment. It was explained to me that the legs of the sofa had been broken by previous occupants the day before. I think it would be helpful to have clear instructions in the room or on the website as to what to expect with breakfast and the self-catering aspect. On my first morning I did take some cereal, toast and milk, but I was not sure I was doing the "right" thing as there were no instructions and no person to help me. Such an arrangement was interesting, but a little disconcerting for the first morning.

Chelsea was excellent from booking us in to serving our evening meal. She is a credit to the Finch Hatton. The food was excellent, the breakfast was great and the bar was warm and welcoming. Our room was enormous and nicely presented.

The mattress was too soft and not very comfortable. The lights above the bath were very low and you hit your head on them when you’re getting out.

Lovely quiet country location. Our host, Catherine was very friendly and provided lots of maps and guides for our walking. Lovely comfortable room and beds. Great breakfast.

Room beautiful, large, nice details, mirrors, feels luxury even with out balcony. Bathroom floor heating work so great, make bathroom like sauna. We love it highly recommend
