We brought our little dog, and they offered to look after him while we used the sauna and hot tub. The owner invited us to look at the stars through his telescope and was happy to talk to us at length.”

  Good food. A proper Breakfast Serving station would enhance the experience. The ambience of the bedroom and Restaurant areas would benefit from some pictures. Our bathroom had no shelves and only one hook to hang towels. However we do understand that refurbishment is on going and we do not want to be too critical about these issues. On the plus side we really appreciated the fridge and the shoe polishing machine in the annex.

  The room was near a very noisy coach station. The internal window had only one window pane so did not help to reduce noise, from 12pm until 6am it was very noisy. Carpets were taped together in hallway, shower leaked a lot and shower curtain very cheap and stuck to me. All very budget. Not a business hotel

  Lovely attention to detail. Not overcluttered. Great access to some beautiful areas. Was very lucky with the weather but even if it was wet I would’ve been very happy there. Lovely to meet Ally too.

  Very minor - all I’d add is a bigger bedsheet - as it kept pinging off;) A longer handled brush or little hoover to sweep grass cuttings and any gravel that follows you in. Having a bad back can make it a little hard to use small dustpan
