I can not rate this hotel and their staff highly enough. We stayed for 4 nights at lock and key as we were getting married in liverpool. The room was beautiful, lovely and clean and very comfortable, like the hotel. The restaurant and food was amazing. The staff at the hotel are wonderful and nothing is to much trouble for them, they are very kind and make sure that everything is right for you and luke is wonderful and I can't thank him enough for everything he did. Will definitely be back.

Breakfast superb. Dinner freshly cooked. Spa pool very nice, could have been a little warmer but it was explained that because of the filters being changed it would be slightly cooler than normal.

The location was fantastic. Breakfast was tasty but not the biggest choice. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

The value for money. The room smelt very musty, the tile grout needed a good scrub, the drains needed clearing in the shower I feel like I was paddling in someones else's dirt. The TV did not work. We only had x 2 teabags and only one bottle of water in one of our rooms. The pillows and towels had seen better days. For the price of over £300.00 per room per night I would have expected much more.

The name was somewhat misleading as it was not a luxury apartment and certainly not number one. The murals showing gunmen on street corners was a bit alarming but we were assured the area was safe by the owner and we had no trouble.

The reception process was not slick and I had informed the hotel that I had just had eye surgery, would be wearing dark glasses and I told them not to worry about my wearing dark glasses. While I got a nice WhatsApp message that acknowledged this, this fact had not been transferred to the reception staff who made remarks about my dark glasses. Yet reception was not busy. So there was a lack of communication there. We did appreciate the complimentary drink on arrival (glass of champagne/fruit juice) but were not impressed that we had been charged twice for dinner at the Lavo restaurant. There followed some emails back and forth and finally the bill issue was resolved. I’m not a great fan of being checked in on an iPad and checked out, without a written summary of what has been paid. Apart from those points, the hotel is exceptional and we will probably return.

The room had an unpleasant smell which was coming from the bathroom. At times it was quite strong - maybe the drains?The bathroom door was rotting at the bottom presumably from a bathroom flood? That's why we downgraded on ‘comfort’ although a large room it had one small window with frosted glass so very dark
