The location on the edge of the village, the cottage was very pretty and had a nice garden which is secure for pets. The rooms are comfortable, clean and nicely decorated.

The kitchen could have been better equipped for those guests who want to cook at home.

For an exceptional hotel the dining was a great let down. Most of the guests were elderly and some could scarcely walk yet expected to go up to the bar to order. Young or old the dining experience was deplorable. The Midland is a beautiful hotel not a pub. It is not the standard expected of a 4 star hotel which formerly prevailed.

The staff were welcoming and the room was clean and bright.

First mornings breakfast was very disappointing, we mentioned this to the manager, he said they had problems with this particular chef. He gave us a refund and a complimentary breakfast for our second morning, this breakfast was much better. The ensuite room was very small, shower, wc and basin in a tiny space. Very difficult to wash even your hands in the basin and brush your teeth.

No hanging space or drawers in the room. A few hooks on the wall, but first time to have a room with nowhere to put your clothes!

Cottage/Hut needs a sign so that you know where it is on the property. It's hidden from view once google has brought you to the farm yard.
