We liked the idea of being that close to the centre of Bournemouth but didn’t realise it wasn’t a nice area. Both mornings woken in early hours by locals shouting and screaming at each other.

The cleaning left a lot to be desired. There was no tv remote which had it been a tv with buttons we wouldn’t have worried about but there weren’t any. Contacted the emergency number given who said he would sort it then ignored us for the rest of the time. Stuff from others left in cupboard and someone’s contact lens gear left. Local drug users just outside the door.

Good position right opposite the pier. 20 min walk from train station. Noisy bar/restaurant almost next door - our room was at the back so not affected too much even with window open.

Room small - ok if you are not planning to stay in too long. Also very warm (it was a sunny day) but large fan helped although left on all night. Decor “tired”.

I know that there was a private function on, but there was loud music until late from somewhere, so I couldn't have my window open (it was a hot evening) without being disturbed. Otherwise, it was perfect.

During my recent stay at the Holiday Inn South Normanton, I encountered a significant disappointment that affected my overall experience. The primary reason for choosing this hotel was the advertised amenities, specifically the sauna and steam room, which were prominently featured online. These facilities were crucial for my relaxation plans during the trip. However, upon arrival, I discovered that the sauna and steam room were closed and no longer available to guests. This was extremely frustrating, as the advertisements had clearly indicated their availability, and they were a key factor in my decision to book at this hotel. I brought this issue to the attention of the hotel manager, who acknowledged the discrepancy and assured me that I would receive a refund for the inconvenience. Despite this assurance, the refund process was far from smooth. The amount refunded was less than what had been agreed upon, and I had to persistently follow up with numerous messages to finally receive the refund. This experience was highly disappointing and overshadowed my stay. Accurate advertising is essential, and the hotel’s failure to provide the amenities promised, coupled with the challenges in obtaining the agreed refund, reflects poorly on the management and overall service quality. I hope the Holiday Inn South Normanton will take steps to ensure such issues do not occur in the future, both by updating their advertising to reflect the actual available amenities and by handling customer grievances more efficiently.
