AWFUL, i did not sleep at all from a mixture of loud pigeons, a spider crawling on me, loud drainage / bathroom system nearby. the room was close to derelict and filthy. I asked for a refund it was so bad. the general manager point blank refused. worst hotel I have ever stayed in which is really saying something and worst customer service. also expect to pay a £10 deposit to use an £10 iron. I'm fuming, I wasn't expecting much for the £50 quid I paid but it was truly awful.

spider in my bed, stains on walls, cracks on walls, dirty carpet, dirty generally, pigeons on the window sil and a rude general manager.

At 3am someone waled into our apartment using a spare key and stole our laptop, hard drive and a watch. Contacted the landlord. Got blocked on all platforms. No help at all.
Negative section of review
The landlord left the key inside the locks to each room, which makes it easy to just take it out and make a copy. We got broke into our apartment by someone who had the key. Police was called.

Lovely setting on the water and right near cafes, restaurants and nice walks. The room was spacious and comfortable. Being on a barge was a lot of fun. Thank you.
Negative section of review
Better clarity around where the barge was. e.g. The name of it, the marine services sign or the nearest restaurant would have been helpful. Whilst it was the only barge, we had to walk the full length of the harbour to establish this. Greater clarity around the fact that you only have a room on the barge and that there may be others on board with you. Bottled water would have been a nice touch.

Uniqueness of the building because of its history. Very well restored building, excellent beds, good shower, well furnished and warm.
Negative section of review
Needs better provision of cooking equipment, microwaveable crockery and a rubbish bin in the bathroom.

Excellent breakfast. Reasonable evening meals. Place could use some TLC, tired looking would be an apt description.

The whole stay at the Ivythwaite was exceptional, we can't wait to stay again!
Positive section of review
Very clean and modern and great location. The staff was lovely to deal with.
Negative section of review
Even though I looked at pictures of the room, I didn't realize how small the room was. It would be perfect for younger people who plan to not spend much time in the room, as it was clean and modern.

Fantastic breakfast, best scrambled eggs I had ever had.

Empty planters, would have been nice to see them all planted up. Hotel on rather busy road, with no where near to walk.
