The George, a lovely place to stay to get away from the hectic modern life we all have. The George was one of those places where you feel like you have gone home to your comfy old slippers, lovely surroundings, a few locals in the bar area but not overcrowded. The room was fantastic, lovely and clean, with a balcony overlooking the river. The evening meal was spot on, cooked fresh and very tasty. The staff were lovely and friendly, even though being busy. Breakfast was lovely, the two staff that were working did an absolutely fantastic job even though the chef hadn't turned into work, they were absolutely rushed off their feet, they kept a smile on their faces and a kind word for the customers, well done guys.

We felt another member of staff during the early evening would have helped, the guys in the bar were busy with customers, without having to dash off and finish servicing rooms that hadn't been finished through the day. Also the guy that had been cleaning a hot tub came into the bar to talk to the staff, this was not an issue however the use of some colourful language would have been upsetting for families with younger children. At first glance the bar looked to be well stocked, whilst choosing our drinks we were told that any pump with glasses over were off sale, unfortunately this was over half.

Clean and spacious rooms, easy access into town. Special shout out to Andy, the night front desk staff, who made my stay extra reassuring by not saying my room number out loud; and to the 8th floor cleaning lady who always made my room extra fresh.

Location superb for train station, city centre, eateries etc. The room was warm, the shower was good and for me the bonus was Netflix on the TV. The man on duty carried my bag upstairs and I heard him offering the same for other travellers.
