We didn't meet João in person, but communication via Booking went very smoothly. Also the self check-in is very easy. As for parking: there are a few places in the driveway, but there also is a convenient public parking space nearby where we parked our car every night. The apartment is located in a quiet street, but is still pretty close to the city center (1.5km - 2km) where you can find all necessary supermarkets, restaurants, ... And it's also located quite central on São Miguel which makes it the ideal base to explore the entire island.”

  For starters, please note that this is not a 5* hotel with all the trimmings but a guesthouse, so the rating is based on price paid and services on offer.. If you want a simple comfortable bed/soft shower, easy access to town and with a full breakfast prepared in minutes (yes, they only serve after 800/815am) then this is the place for you. Paula was a wonderful host and I spent 5 days there with no major issues.

  Noisy neighbours at midnight, but that can't be accounted for. If you can see past the dated dull decor and poor fittings then don't worry about booking this guesthouse.

  Check in was quick and easy since we booked everything online. Room was clean and neat. Comfortable bed and bedding and had a good night sleep. Shared the king bed with my husband and 4yr old son and it was comfortably spacious. Dropped off the keys for check out and was good to go. Everything was very easy and convenient. Walking distance to Lidl and other restaurants down the street.

  Comfortable, nice decor, clean and nice finishing touches. Nice new comfy beds. Lovely decor. Host was nice and quick to try and resolve the problems soon as we got there. New appliances etc.

  The hot water wasnt hot. No shower but had a shower curtain and an old shower attached but wasnt for use. Blinds were not fixed properly, toilet flusher was broken. And the biggest thing was the horrible appearance as you pull up to the building, its disgusting, the smell at the entrance door was just awful and in the lift stank too. This is obviously by no means the host fault. Once inside the apartment it is a relief-to see its actually really nice. But having to come in and out is too much, i gagged and was almost sick twice. The apartment does need a really good renovation as i feel the decoration has been hurried and just plastered over the cracks. The handle even fell off the toilet window because of deterioration. Price is far to much for this place and because of the awful run down building the flat is in. Which is by no means the hosts fault.

  It was all good stuff, location was perfect as I was going to Shepherd’s Bush empire to see a band and was literally round the corner.

  Price of drinks I felt were unnecessarily over priced, much higher than your normal pub price for same thing , but that seems to be the same at a lot of these places. So we just sneaked our own drinks in from our room to the lounge bar area. Also they automatically add on a discretionary 10% service charge on food and drinks from either the restaurant or bar area which you can have removed if your not happy but you need to remember to ask for it taken off. Also stop serving food about 8pm in restaurant and I think 8:30 pm at the bar which caught a lot of the guest out from what we noticed, . Lovely breakfast.
