Cunliffe House sits in a beautiful setting with views over the field to the river and the trees at the front. The garden is lovely and catches the sun for most of the day. What we loved was that it was roomy yet homely, the games room was an absolute gem, especially as my dad gets up early so he could get a cup of tea and go out there to watch the news on TV without waking the rest of the family up. The beds are super comfy and there's plenty of hot water for everyone to get a morning shower. I particularly loved walking down the stairs and looking at the view from the picture window over the rear aspect of the house, gorgeous trees, fields and rabbits. Plenty of parking for several cars and lovely walks are just a step out of driveway.

We loved it all but a bigger fridge would have been good, maybe an under top freezer in the utility room and tall fridge in the kitchen? We used cool bags for our extra bits. It was also tricky to work out where to put other food as they were all full of crockery. pots and pans etc which were obviously useful, I just moved things around so we had a cupboard for pasta and bread etc. Just a small thing but workable.

The hosts were friendly and hospitable. It was our daughter birthday and they made a little celebration at breakfast which was lovely. We stayed in the family suite. It has 2 separate rooms which is very convenient when with children as you can enjoy watching tv without disturbing their sleep. Rooms were very clean with all the facilities. The beds were very comfortable. Beautiful garden and we were encouraged to enjoy it. We particularly appreciated the attention to detail in every aspect of our stay. Very good wi-fi connection. Overall a fantastic experience and the best BandB we ever stayed in. We will definitely go back!

Personally we would prefer feather quilts and pillows for a more luxury feel. The room was very large and therefore a super king bed would have more suited the room and us, we would have paid more for the room for this.

Entry code not sent at time it was stated it would be ( 24 hours beforehand) or even on the day so had to call owner. Duvet too heavy, hot and from my Grandmas era. It was also stained in lots of places and either needed throwing away or a very good wash. Big thick silver clock in bedroom didn't work. Only 1 downlighter out of 6 worked in the bathroom. One morning there was no hot water but someone came during the day when we were out and fixed it. Lack of cutlery and crockery , even for 2 people. EG. NO teaspoons. NO dessert spoons. 1 tablespoon. 3 knives . 2 forks. 3 mugs not matching, one of them chipped. 3 cereal bowls. 2 side plates. 2 big plates , one of them chipped and cracked. However ,also in the cutlery drawer were 5 black biro pens. They were certainly of no use when trying to eat cereal. No frying pan, Pyrex dish or similar in which to cook eggs, bacon, etc. The TV didn't work (it just had wires hanging from it) so we could not spend our evenings having the option to watch tv and feel we are due a refund for that part of the contract. The owner did not reply to 2 requests for 'missing' cutlery and a lighter, cooler duvet. Booking.com said if there are problems just let us know.

The “Spa” leisure facility was very tired and full of locals, leaving nowhere for us to sit inside the leisure area or enjoy the sauna and steam rooms. The men’s changing rooms was just bad. We were charged extra to use the facilities but after expressing our disappointment with the facilities the hotel removed the charges from our bill which we were happy with. I felt the room was a little over priced.
